Indeed, I'm jumping charities. Last year I blogged for an anti-child-porn charity - a highly worthy cause - but this year I've been working more closely with the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee http://uusc.org who work for freedom for the oppressed. One of their big projects involves Burma, whose situation has pained my heart for some time. A 24-hour blogging jaunt to benefit UUSC would fit in well.

Last year, each post featured a different artist of the "strange and twisted" variety, plus a wardriving session. Might do the same again. Not so sure, though. The wardriving part was just a small part of the whole adventure - I'd rather do the whole thing from the road this time.

Back in the day, when modems had cradle holders for sticking the phone receivers into, people would write little programs to generate lists of likely phone numbers to automatically dial, in hopes of scoring a connection to a network. This was called wardialing. I dunno why, though.

Nowadays, a common hobby is to travel around with a laptop and a wireless network card looking for wireless networks, and the old name was reborn "wardriving" although it's not warlike at all. Most wardrivers have no malicious intent. I personally like collecting unusual network names. People name their networks some pretty funny things.
