There are too many
- varieties of swimming events.  That anyone can win eight gold medals in one meet is living proof of this.
- repetitions of gymnastics events (some people get to repeat each routine FIVE times during the meet: qualifying, team, individual all round, individual discipline, exhibition... enough is enough)
