Yes they are sooo messy. THe girl warned me but I didn't expect them to be like this. Holy thy're crapping everywhere all the time. And don't worry I do treat the water with sum product to eliminate chlorine, and I also have another thing that breaks down waste. I'm pretty sure my fishes are gonna die if we don't get a filtered tank soon. The bowl is pretty big but without filtration and a bit more room I don't think they can survive. I just hope they can hold up a lil longer. I thought about putting them in the bathtub but thats too dangerous. Poor fishies are so sick I know they are. They're supposed to float around the bottom and sift in the gravel when they're healthy, and Eggy and Nemo are always.. ALWAYS.. . at the top gasping for breath :( its so sad

:x Well remember love, if you want to keep both of them you'll have to get at the ultimate LOWEST a 15 gallon, a 20 will do you just fine. What breed are they? What's their current length?

I'm not sure about the breed. I forgot it already cuz i'm memory-deprived like that. They're about 1.5 inches each, not included their long tails. They actually seem to look much better today. But i definitely need a bigger home for them.. i'm not sure how many gallons this bowl is, but it was the largest bowl they had at the pet story. Hmm.. its about the size of 3 of my heads.. how big is that? lol. If i can't get a bigger tank maybe I'll bring them back. Not for a refund but in hopes someone who can take better care of them will buy them.. what do you think?

Another thing is fishy fooood. Flakes aren't that good. If the fish are eating the food off the surface, it is a bad thing. What happens is that the fish can eat the food and ingest pockets of air in the food. This air will go to their bladder and can cause infections and easily death. They'll start to swim in ackward fashions and float to the top of the water. What is good is pellets. Sinking pellets are best but they're sometimes tough to find. What I do is take an old little fish food flake lid and put some water in it...then I put in some pellets and soak the pellets in the water for 15 minutes or so. Then I take a spoon and gently press out any excess air, scoop up the food and plop it in :] Fishies will dart for the food and pick it up as they desire. Hikari is basically the best commercial brand you can buy for yer babes. There's a product called "Pro Gold" made by goldfish expert Rick Hess which is specifically engineered for enhancing goldfish colours, size and overall health. It's like the healthiest thing you can buy your ( ... )

hey thanks for all that fishie advice... i have a huge animal encyclopedia that weighs more than me and i've done my reading on dem fish. My mom is gonna get a filtered tank for us to put them in. We might go in today after i get my guitar set up. I have been soaking their flakes before putting them in, but i guess it would just be easier if I found pellets for them. How's your fish doing? I forgot what species it was but I remember seeing a pick of it. They kinda look like goldfish with a big orange head. Heheh.. I hope he's better :D

Heehee, good. I don't like when people just hop into fishkeeping without prior knowledge. It pisses the hell out of me...and a lot of fish books and encyclopedias are out of date. A lot has changed in the goldfish keeping world since 1994ish. Yea, pellets are a better way to go. They're a LOT less messy and you can easier monitor who is eating how many pellets [incase one seems to steal all the food ( ... )

Take some pics of your tanks! I'd love to see!!

My parents used to have an ENORMOUS tank.. i think it was like 80 gallons, with tons of tropical fish. After a few years they just got tired of taking care of it cuz they had to take care of me and my sister so they gave it to some cousins who gave it to someone else which sucks :(
