Why can't I completely trust God? I mean, I know it's human nature to think we can do everything ourselves, but gah! For lack of a better adjective, I'm frustrated.
You can, but you don't, and none of us sustains our God-trust completely. Except certain saints. Possibly. But maybe not. Anyway, forget them. Except as examples. To follow. Insofar as they follow Christ. But focus on the future. Believe-know-that you can trust Him. For the Christian, knowledge, love, and action are bound up together (1 Jn 2:3,6; Jn 14:15). Know Him, love Him, do everything in Him.
Would you care to be more specific? I can only barely concretize your expressed thoughts and feelings here, except by analogy to my own experiences, which loses the important individualizing traits of your own case. I'm always here to lend an ear. Here here. An ear, an ear.
I have no idea anymore. Basically, I want to trust God (especially with regard to a specific area in my life), but I keep taking it back and trying to do it myself. I want to completely give it to God, but somehow, I can't. Was that coherent?
Coherent, but nonspecific-and I can understand if you wish not to be, for there are many areas in my life that I prefer not to publicize. But God knows all things, and it is with Him we have to do.
We must imitate Christ. That is no easy thing. It's one thing to say it, another to do it. The word is not the thing. The imitation is the thing, imitation of the True Word. Let God speak us.
Well if you think about it.. your trust for someone is proportional to how much time you spend with that person. For example if you meet someone for the first time and they ask to borrow your car, are you going to lend it to them? Probably not. Although I'm using the object (car), it could be anything. Also, the more important this (object) is, the tighter you will hold onto it. So, it could be a combination of your time spent with God, and the importance of the (object) you are holding onto.
