Ikeda Aya was exactly as privileged as every other student at the ouran academy.
She was, in actuality, a little under average, and terribly shy and self-conscious. It was this set of traits that brought about her biggest problem.
Embarrassingly enough, the intervention letters had started rolling in. They had presented an ultimatum, to pull up her language grade, or be dropped a class. Aya had never been one to ask for help, but once studying on her own proved not to be cutting it, she realized she had to ask someone.
Aya looked around the classroom for someone to ask for help. Everyone looked so sure of themselves, so busy and important, Aya would rather die then bother them with her problems.
The only student that looked even remotely approachable was Fujioka Haruhi from the host club, but he was surrounded by the student Aya feared most. Hitachiin Hikaru. Hikaru had been pulling pranks on her since they were in grade school, well, when he wasn't ignoring her like the plague. There was no way she was going over there to ask Haruhi for help.
"Ikeda-kun is something wrong?" Aya gasped in surprise and turned to see who was talking to her. It was Fujioka-kun, and even in her flustered state, Aya could see opportunity knocking.
"No, no Fujioka-kun. Ah, I was wondering if I could ask you something? You don't have to if you don't want to, but since you're such a good student..." Fujioka-kun smiled, throwing Aya off her rant.
"What do you need?" Aya couldn't believe he was so receptive.
"I-I was wondering if maybe you would be kind enough to tutor me in languages?" She trailed off into a whisper and looked down in shame. Of course he wouldn't want to, it was a total imposition.
"Sure." Aya flushed, already feeling bad for taking up his time. "Oh, but I have club hours after classes," Haruhi paused, taking a moment to think. "You could come to the host club, and we could work there?"
Aya had never been to the host club before, though she desperately wanted to go.
"I'd like that." She managed to squeak without stuttering, "Arigato, Fujioka-kun."
