Second Cup was by no means a big coffee shop, hell, it wasn't even known out side of Toronto. Granted, Toronto is a pretty big city, but it certainly didn't make Second Cup mean anything. Days spent behind the counter of the Starbucks wannabe were filled with boredom, broken only by slightly strange customers (when they came in) and text messages. There wasn't even any real employee training, the manager just told them to get out of there asap.
Her words, not theirs.
So Stacy Pilgrim, 19 year old three year employee of said coffee shop, had absolutely no clue how to deal with the glowing blue circle that showed up behind the counter (two weeks before Ramona Flowers skated through her brothers head for the first time, but she didn't know that yet.)
The circle didn't go away and Stacy found that, after a few days of experimentation, standing inside the circle made her feel better, more energized and less sore from being on her feet all day.
She didn't know what the circle was really for, who had created it, or why it was here, but she liked the feeling of not having to drink three cups of coffee to get through her shift, so she never mentioned it. She though it was harmless.
Until the day it spat out a man.
