She didn't get to wear a blue dress anymore. Though the color of her dress wasn't of much concern now, not now that her brother was dead.
"Well, they can't find him." She explained to the callers that came to express their sympathy. But her dress was black now. Out of a respectful precaution, as her brother had been labeled missing in action.
"You know, you shouldn't be here." She commented to the man on the back porch, "you should have been inside."
"I hate the black." Was his only reply. "You don't look yourself."
The girl sighed, and leaned against the porch railing, as she watched the sun set.
"Are any of us really ourselves anymore? No one's coming home, no one's going home. People like you just move from place to place." She looked at her companion and trailed off. Truthfully, she was terrified of the day he decided he needed to move on.

I'm a heartbreaker.
Yeah, that's never what I expected to have happen. I was supposed to be the girl next door. I was supposed to be the small town girl that gets married to her high school sweetheart. Never leaving the city, growing old in a house with a white picket fence and two point five kids.
I wasn't supposed to be a heartbreaker, honestly, that was never the intention. I'd get scared, or realize I'd made a mistake. It was just easier to leave then to try and fix things...

"It's not my fault." He sneered, mocking the trembling girl on the couch. They both knew he wouldn't lose control this time, after all, it's a little harder to choke someone when your powers are gone, and your arms are tied down.
"Baby, I've been thinking." Natalie managed to say, without her voice shaking.
"That's new." Todd scoffed. Not that he had been the brains of their relationship before, but he'd been a little edgy since the de-veganizing incident, as long ago as that was.
"I don't care that you dated Ramona first. I really like you, baby." Natalie hadn't been unsure of anything before, but now she couldn't help it, as she waited for Todd's answer.
