I have to say I will forever have a smile on my face when I think of the term "dare to suck". That is great. Because, truthfully we learn more by our failures than our successes.
While being a perfectionist may not be the ideal role on stage - being one who strives for it may not be so bad. It basically boils down to one question -
What kind of actress do you want to be?
Will you be one who is always looking at something, tweaking this and that, saying, I could do this better, that better, etc.?
I mean, even now I look back at performances I did and I say, I could have . . . . should have . . . but at the time, I felt like I worked well and was genuinely happy with the result.
Chances are you are one who scrutinizes yourself from the very beginning of the process, and I would offer this free piece of advice which you may ignore.
Think of it in terms of carving or sculpting something - You can't worry about the details until you have the general shape knocked out first.
