Thoughts and tears

I should just avoid the news and especially the comments. Obviously, there are many warm-hearted, generous people out there whose hearts are breaking but the amount of crude, rude, over-the-top remarks is just sickening. Personally, every time I read the news I start crying. It's just too horrible to contemplate the last moments of all those killed ( Read more... )

If you look at the NRA and the APA,
you'll quickly realize that mental health is the more soluble issue.

Meanwhile, no, rather than harden ourselves,
we must soften ourselves,
as when copper is annealed,
or steel is tempered.

Not on much these days, so I'm a bit out of the loop on the blog lately. My FB posts are pretty pro-2nd Amendment, anti-media on the topic. As so far as the mental health aspect of recent events go, there does not seem to be all that much information about the shooter out there yet. With that said, until the stigma of mental health is abolished in this country's culture, situations such as recent events are going to continue unheeded.

I haven't bern watching the news coverage at all. Knowing it happened is enough for me to handle right now. I can't dwell on all the details. :(

I've been for stricter gun control since I was little, and it's been a real hot point between me and my father since he is a gun collector. I haven't talked to him about assault weapons in particular before, but I just don't see any legitimate reason for a civilian to be able to purchase one.
