Fletcher hadn't gotten to explore the courtyard the day before. Now, he needed someplace to go and relax after talking with the warden. At least he had his hat now, having ordered it from the shop the day before... but now he was out of CP, so that just made things worse.
She'd said it wasn't a joke. But why would they do something like this? Himself, he could understand, but there were people here convicted of less-serious crimes... It was horrible. Even though she'd said so, he couldn't believe it to be true. It just wasn't right.
He supposed this was as close to nature as he could get in this place. Still, it wasn't that bad. There were a few scattered patches of flowers... Maybe he could do something to help them grow. That would help him feel better. As he thought so, he noticed an older girl sitting on a bench with a dandelion in her hand. But she was reading, so he didn't want to disturb her... She looked nice, though, so he sat down on the same bench, leaving plenty of space, to read one of the library books he'd checked out
By the time someone sat down on the same bench, Minatsuki was already done scanning the contents of the rulebook and everything was beginning to set in. It was fuckin' ridiculous, this prison was. She knew she was in for the death penalty for her crime, but, hell, couldn't they at least set a goddamn solid date for her execution instead of poison her to a slow, painful death every three days!? And here she thought she was fucked up--the people who ran this freakshow were ten times as bad. After the initial shock wore off, she set the book down on her lap and cast a glance over at her company.
Shit.
It was a kid. A goddamn kid. Just how old was he? What could a kid that young have done to land himself in such a deathtrap? Well, she knew age didn't matter when it came to how twisted a person could be--she would know. This kid looked harmless enough, but she also knew from personal experience that appearances weren't everything. She'd just have to see if he was dangerous or not and keep her guard up until then
( ... )
He twitched a little; had he disturbed her after all? Shyly, Fletcher looked up, and lifted up the book so she could see the title -- a high-school-level book on chemical bonds. He told her the title. "I-I wanted to keep up studying even though I'm here, so..." His explanation trailed off; he already knew he was weird when it came to kids. Hopefully people wouldn't think worse of him here than his classmates did back home.
"The library let me check it out," he explained. "They said I could take three books for up to a week."
Her eyes drifted towards the cover of the kid's book to confirm it. High school level indeed. Well la dee fuckin' da--he was a smart little shit, wasn't he? Looked timid, too, and apparently a bookworm, being that advanced in his readings. Probably the kind of kid that was bullied by others his age 'cause they couldn't understand him. She knew a few of those from her early school years, and hell, she was one of those bullies who tortured the nerdy bookworms back then, albeit in a sly, falsely innocent way.
"M-my, you're a smart one! I could never keep up with something like that...especially considering where we are now..." Minatsuki spoke with a sad, troubled tone as she glanced away and pushed some of her hair behind an ear. "What did you do to end up here, anyways...? I-if you don't mind me asking, that is!"
Hey. It's up to us- to take out Umbrella. switchmyphraseJuly 1 2011, 05:10:47 UTC
Senji had just recently bought himself a drink, and was sipping it nonchalantly. Thinking about buying it from the vending machine, he remembered that weird math nerd that was on top of it the other day. Huh.
Where could he really go? There was nothing to do in this prison that was worthwhile. He could go work out in the weight room- but he had already done so earlier in the morning, he didn't want to tire his precious muscles. Walking around aimlessly, he found himself in the courtyard. Just as he was about to wonder where the other inmates were, he spotted a girl sitting on a bench. Geh-! He wanted to suddenly run away from this courtyard so fast-!! They were facing each other, so ...h..hopefully he could just turn around and go back in without her seeing him?!
Oh, who the hell was this fucker? Just staring at her--no, gawking, really. Gaping. Some kinda goddamn perv or what? Something about him reminded her of that Kanji kid she met in the cafeteria yesterday. It was probably their body types--both were pretty big guys. She pretended not to notice him and slowly stood from the bench, but clumsily stumbled and ended up dropping her rulebook and candy onto the ground, looking completely flustered and embarrassed for being such a klutz.
He turned and walked away, pretending he didn't even see her drop things
Oh dammit all. Now she was acting like some kind of klutz! She was just trying to lure him in- with her saucy trap! Did she think she had him cornered?! No way! No waaaayy! He knew exactly how to handle this-! He walked over to her, and knelt down, picking up her book and candy, and held them out to her, while still being crouched.
"Y-you dropped your stuff," as soon as she took these things he was going to run away, really.
SAUCY TRAP AHAH you're lucky she doesnt have a dress yetmybroisthebestJuly 1 2011, 07:07:35 UTC
Hook, line and fuckin' sinker. Were there no difficult people in this prison? Not that she minded, but maybe she just hadn't met any of the heartless criminals just yet--it was only her second day after all.
While reaching for her things, Miniatsuki felt her hand brush against the other inmate's--and immediately drew back, looking as if she'd been struck. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be any trouble!"
Suzaku stormed into the courtyard, outwardly he didn't look angry, he looked sad, his eyes held an emptiness. He had just had his conversation with the warden and was furious that she should be so calm and almost cheary about the fact that people like Euphemia, who were not murderers, who would never intentionally harm any one had been sent here to die.
He sat down on a bench looking around the courtyard. It was strange, having this time to think. He had never had much time at all that was his before and he definitly wasn't expecting any in prison. He didn't think he liked it.
He spotted the girl on the bench oposite her and nodded to her in greeting.
By the time Minatsuki finished reading her rulebook, she was pretty resigned to the death penalty aspect. Even in a regular prison, she'd been on death row for murder, so it didn't bother her much. Sighing quietly, she put away her rulebook and looked around the area--immediately spotting some guy who was looking her way. She tensed a bit, clutched her hands together on her lap in a nervous way, and flickered her gaze away from him. Then a moment later, she looked back and nodded reluctantly in return.
Suzaku felt bad for making the girl nervous, but it couldn't be helped. They were in a prison, it was not really the place you would expect to meet trustworthy people in. He went back to studying the floor but saw her nodding back. He noticed the rulebook in her hand and spoke more to break up the silence than any actual wish to start a conversation.
Minatsuki fidgeted a bit more before replying. "I-it's terrible! I've never heard of a prison this brutal before... It's more like a twisted circus." Really, though, she was pretty damn excited about this twisted place. It was better than a normal, boring prison. And if she was gonna be on the brink of death every week if she didn't earn an antidote candy, then she wanted the rest of her life to be damn entertaining.
Rosalind would never be inclined to admit it, but she liked some small bit of greenery and in all honesty, nearly anything was better than her cell. Even if her cell was hers alone, despite being in a block where everyone was supposed to have roommates.
She supposed her situation would change once someone was assigned to her, but she'd enjoy her solitude for now. Once she got back there after her walk and quiet study of the plants. Giving the girl on the bench a nod, she knelt down to tug a leaf that had died off a still healthy plant.
She didn't know much about them but she could do that much and pretend to feel useful.
Minatsuki cautiously watched as some blonde bitch approached. This place was full of people who had committed crimes of varying degrees. There was no way to tell who held more of a threat than the others just from appearance, so she had to be on her guard at all times. However, her suspicion dropped a bit when she noticed that the woman was giving particular attention to a semi-wilted plant. At first she thought the lady was just screwing around with it on a mere, careless whim, but when she looked closer, she realized she'd removed the decayed leaf from an otherwise healthy plant.
Rosalind glanced at the other girl, almost like she'd been caught doing something. "There aren't many where I lived," she explained, getting to her feet. "It was a whim."
Oh man, it was his first time walking around this dump and he had no idea how boring this place really is-- well maybe just as boring as Santa Destroy, but it stilled blowed nonetheless. Strolling around this place was honestly the best thing he could think of at this moment in time, maybe something will hit him later when he wanders around this hell hole just a tad bit more.
The heat was getting to him, there had to be some kind of bench or the like to sit around here before he passes out from heat stroke. He begins to walk at a fast pace not taking any attention to his surrounds as he glides straight past the bench he was searching for. What did catch his eye though was the cutey sitting on said bench, he slowly strides backwards trying not to catch her attention; he stands lifelessly infront of her for a few seconds and then casually turns his head, staring down on her.
Oh, great. Some cocky fucker thought he was bein' pretty damn cute with that oh-so-obvious gawking, huh? Yeah, she noticed what he was doing, she wasn't some numbskull when it came to male attention. But for her facade's sake, she pretended not to notice this idiot until the last second, when he asked permission to sit on the bench.
She jolted a bit, as if surprised by the sudden request, and her eyes darted up to the person who addressed her. She shook her head and moved over a bit to give him more room. "O-oh, not at all...!"
Alright! He wasn't rejected at first sight like usual, this was a huge step for Travis Touchdown! Well- not really, but hey, it was something. It was rude to keep a lady waiting though, guess he had to sit down sometime soon than looking like some perv ogling at this girl-- Not like he did any of that or anything!?
With that he slumped down into bench, and just stared into nothingness. He sure did know how to impress the ladies.
Sitting in silence. Wow, awkward much? This guy was one of those fuckin' loser virgin guys--she could tell already. She didn't even really wanna waste her time on him. She fidgeted a bit before going back to her rulebook, scanning over the page about death sentences for about the fifth time, not really paying attention to what she was reading. She entertained the thought of just walking away if this guy wasn't going to be more interesting soon.
