[When he knew he had to offer some sort of story to the woman he was apparently courting, he would have never expected to get a glimpse of what that first similar exposure they both shared: war. Not like this.]

H-Hey, princess. Are you okay?

[Dammit, she could have been him. She could have been him.]

Don't worry, the ladies right. It's gonna end soon, you know. Real soon.

[The sound of his voice makes her flinch, her hand going for the slender knife before her. But when she looks up at him, she stops sharply, eyes turning wide in an almost comical expression of shock.

It turns to relief. Gently, she tucks her sleeping brother back against the wall, and after a shaky moment scrambles to her feet. There’s no height difference, no real change in her form, other than skinnier arms. But her face speaks of years.]

Human - [She looks almost relieved.] - the Alliance. Have the Alliance come?

[But even as she says it, she seems to know, somehow, that it’s not true.]

Alliance? What are you talkin' about? Princess, don't you recognize me?

Recognize you? [Her face screws up in confusion and skepticism. She takes a step towards him, scrutinizing him in the dim light with her gleaming blue eyes.]

Am I to recognize a Human here?

[Backing away again, her eyes dart to the knife on the ground, then back at him.]

Who are you?

[ Madotsuki doesn't recognize the scene, nor does she recognize the people - not even faintly, considering she hasn't quite acquaintanced herself with most of the people in Demeleier yet. And yet she doesn't even look really surprised at suddenly finding herself in this situation, or even perplexed at the sounds of war resounding from a distance.

(She's used to dreams by now, even if they aren't hers.)

... She isn't sure whether to speak up, as if one word might suddenly break the situation, cause it to crumble. So there's a while where she just stares, her eyes a little emotionless - although there might be just a slight hint of sadness in it. She understands, even if she hasn't experienced anything like this before. ]

That's right.. Everything always passes. [ She states it very much as if it's a fact, her voice soft. She stares at the girl and the boy, her expression a little hard to read since it's so blank. ]

[Aureln studies this young girl, somewhere between awe and dread. For a few long moments that drag past, she is still, a deer trying to evade the hunter’s gaze. But she knows that she’s not in danger - not, at least, from this small, solitary figure.]

Are you hiding, as well?

[ She doesn't speak up, even in the silence, seemingly content with it. Even if it's somewhat awkward for any normal person, it doesn't faze Madotsuki. But after the question she shakes her head very lightly. ]

I just ended up here.

[ It's the answer closest to the truth, after all, and her tone sounds genuine even if it's still a little devoid of emotion. ]

[She stares for a moment, before frowning, suspicious.]

How did you get past them?

[Oh, yeah. That was an all too familiar smell. It was something that came to him in glimpses, along with visions of dead dragons, but he knew that smell. Then he saw the kids. Everything else was second priority to these two kids. War isn't something one should know at such a young age.

Maybe there was something he could do here. Silently, he motions to the kids, hoping to get the awake girl's attention.]

[She looks at him with eyes full of suspicion and a tightly reined in fear. He’s not dead, that much is clear, and a good sign too. Her common sense - no-one else should be here - battles against dream logic, that he is here and she knows his face and that is fine and safe and good.

She’s silent for a few long moments before shifting a little, answering him in a hushed tone little more than a hiss.]

It will be done soon. It will be done soon, and they’ll come back.
