pomme = apple
pomme de terre = potato (apple of the earth)

and POME = Prisoner Of Mother England. Originally used to refer to Australian convicts (who were prisoners from mother England) but came to be used by Australians to refer to those 'imprisoned' in mother England.

I'm full of useless information...sometimes.

I just figured out a couple of days ago how to fix my computer so it didn't think my keyboard was australian, even though it knew it was japanese. Other than that things is good. Planning for a second summer this year even though the summer that just ended was really really sweaty. And babbling drunkenly...

heya how expensive is england? im coming over in a month and starting to worry about how much its going to cost and wether ive saved enough, wat sort of stuff have u been up to

Not that expensive at all really, definately not as expensive as Paris. It helps because the £ is only doubling the Australian dollar at the moment, but if you eat sensibly - like out of supermarkets (Iceland is great) instead of restaurants, but if you look around pub meals can be quite cheap (I had Fish & Chips for £5 ( ... )
