Character Name: Godric
Fandom: True Blood (TV Series)
Age: Over 2,000 years. He was turned when he was 16.
Canon Point: After his death in ep 2.09
Personality:
Godric is old. As he says, he's older than Jesus. This means not much is new for him. It makes him rarely motivated. He has all the patience in the world. His existence continues so why rush anything? He tells Erik, his Childe that he needs to control his emotions. A vampire controls his own emotions. This is another reason why he appears unphased most of the time.
However the very few new things he finds, he is very interested in. This is one of the reasons why he has faith in humans. They are alive; he is not. He has faith that they are not like vampire, and for him that is a good thing. Godric is not like the other vampires in the series for this reason. While everyone finds humans less than, Godric has gone through all the stages of being a vampire. He has killed, destroyed, and done all that is typical of a vampire.
And he hates himself for it now.
This is what has lead him to want to die. He is unnatural. He is damned. While he understands it is in a vampires nature to be like this, he tells Lorena, a fellow vampire, that he wishes her to learn, for all of their kind to learn. He has removed himself from being like them. This has made him pretty much suicidal.
He sets himself up to be killed by the Church. He knows this. Godric goes to them anyway. After everything, he just wants the peace of death. When this doesn't work, he decides that he needs to kill himself. He heads to the roof of the building and camps out until daybreak, even as Eric tries to stop him.

The bond between Maker and Childe is unbelieevably strong. The love he has for Eric is unmatched. All he's wanted was the best for him. He tried to teach him the best he could. His own vampiric upbringing was stifling and abusive. Godric killed his Maker after he learned all he deemed necessary. This is very rare in the vampire world as Makers are stronger than their offspring and they must obey their Maker. He wanted the opposite for Eric. He wanted him to surpass him, like a child does its father. Godric let Eric grow as a vampire, trying only to make him stronger, better. When Godric found the dying human, Eric, he'd suffered centuries by himself. At this point, he wanted another. He asked Eric if he wanted to travel the world with him. Godric only wanted to make him more. This only furthered the bond between them.

There is a connection between them like no other. There is centuries of love and faith, as he tells his Childe before he's about to die. Eric would lay down his life for him, and many times Godric has stepped into the line of fire for Eric. He would make sure no harm came to him. The easiest example of this is in Nazi Germany when the werewolf was about to attack Eric. He snapped her neck before she could do anything to him.

Godric isn't quite like that any more. He's learned from the carnage, hate, and destruction. He does not want this any more. His greateast desire, aside from having Eric being able to stand on his own, is for other vampires to learn. He wants them to be more. He sees his kind as vile, less than.

However that is not to say he isn't capable of still killing. It just takes a good reason. Hurting innocents is one of them, as in the scene where Sookie was nearly raped. He had no problem disposing of him. Literally. He's so strong there was no effort, and no emotion. He tried to plead with Godric, but before he could even finish his words, he was dead. The other is disrespect. When Lorena tries to harm Sookie in his nest, he picks her up by her throat and tells her she is pathetic, pretty much. That he could kill her right then if he wanted. But he doesn't. Instead, he banishes her. She was of no concern to him.

Ultimately, he isn't afraid of much. He's two thousand years old and one of the strongest vampires in North America. He wants to amend things. He wants solace. Godric wants things to be so much better than they are, but they won't be. He wanted his life to end, and so that is what he chose to do, despite the hurt he caused Eric. Sookie describes him as being the most human vampire she's ever met. He isn't human. He isn't human-like. He does hate himself because he is so much worse than human. However he has a bit of humanity, from what he's learned. That is where he differs from every other vampire in the series.
History:
Abilities/Weaknesses:
Vampires in the world of True Blood work slightly different. As such, these are what he can and cannot do:

Superstrength/ Superspeed
The older a vampire is, the more powerful he is. Godric is one of the strongest we've seen. He can also tell the ages of others around him. He can destroy and kill without breaking a sweat. He is also super fast, often appearing like a blue to humans. He also can fly, but he doesn't really do that now. He also rarely exudes his strength. Only if he has a strong enough reason to.

Healing
Vampires have the ability to regenerate after being harmed. They need human blood for this to work though. It's why they need to feed on them. Also sleeping in the ground for a day can restore a vampire.

Blood Properties
Vampire blood, also called V, is used as a drug. It has hallucinagenic properties. It also cures a person who is moments from death if drank in large quantities. They do not want this getting out as the medical community does not know.

Senses
Vampires have exceptional hearing, sight, and smell. The older a vampire is the more blood they can sense. It does not affect him per se though, since he does not let himself be driven by it like a younger vampire. However fangs can be popped because of this. Especially if he's going to feed.

The senses also bleed into the bond that a Maker and Childe have. Godric can sense Erik. He knows his feelings. He knew the hurt he was causing before he died.

There are also similar effects when a human drinks directly from a vampire. The vampire becomes aware of their emotions. The human may also become stronger. Their senses are heightened. There is also a physical attraction that is developed where the human will start to have erotic dreams about the vampire.

Also vampires are impervious to telepaths since their brains do not emit any waves.

Weaknesses
Silver. It burns them and continues to burn them. It is often used as a means to restrain. Beheading is another way to kill one. Sunlight is one of the most known and common ways to kill or harm a vampire. They sleep during the day for this reason, away from any light and preferably in the ground.

First Person Sample:
[A very pale young looking boy appears on the screen. He is almost emotionless. Technology is a means to an end, as it talking most often.]

I am in need of information on any sort of medical centers here. In my world, I am not the only one of my kind, and I require something unconventional to live here. [He does not explain further. He knows what it means to be a vampire, and he does not wish to make his presence known. He could live off of synethetic blood if need be, but he doubts that is here.]

Third Person Sample:
Godric waited til dusk to brave it outside. Though there was much to expierence and do before day break, the old vampire was taking it all in. Everything. Not just this place, but what it meant to be here. A lot of information was given, while more was concealed. Godric was not stupid. He could have glamored the receptionist, but he was not that vampire any more.

He wasn't sure what he was, really. He died. He felt the pain of the sun and how fire tore at his skin until there was nothing left, until the blue flamed consumed his very soul. But here he was in this existence. From what he could tell, he was the only one, too.

Godric leaned back on the bench and watched as people walked to and fro, continuing their daily routines, some as lost as he was. But this was new. This was not normal. Perhaps there was some sort of purpose for him to be here. He was still vampire. He could feel the need to drink, but he suppressed it like he did everything else.

There was much to do and much to worry about. But for now, the old vampire would take it in. Perhaps he would at least find adequate living quarters before
dawn.
