I'm so sick of being socially retarded especially when it comes to taking photos. There are so many people I want to meet and photograph but my gay social anxiety causes me to chicken out. I'm so scared of being walked all over or judged in a bad way, so I hate to meet new people. It makes me feel like an asshole when I try to make plans and can't ( Read more... )

No prob.

My boyfriend and I might go on Saturday to the Hook to see the Turbo ACs. I don't know my way around Brooklyn at all though. How are you getting there?

That would be awesome. I'm going up there on Friday...probably taking the train from Red Bank and I might stay up there for the weekend and crash at my boyfriend's place.

Hah, you just described my life story in your post here. I pretty much quit photography because i gave in to my social phobia/anxiety...

So i think it's really great that you keep on trying!
Seriously, if you dont want to end up bitter and angry, you should go out into the world and take the risk :)

Girlie,

I used to have really high social anxiety too, I've always been self conscious as well. I would say around the time that I continued modeling and photography was when I overcame alot of the doubt I had. Because sometimes you have to put yourself out there to feel any better.

One thing that helped me was Emerson and Thoreau too.

The quote that pretty much changed my entire way of thinking is "Always do what you are afraid to do" by Emerson.

I know this comment is all over the place, but the best advice I can give you is to try to push your fears aside because if you don't, you'll never know the opportunities you will miss out on.
