Up at the top of Guard Tower 1, Eliot stood with a pair of binoculars to his eyes, scanning the treeline outside the camp. Some time in the night, he'd heard that sound again... same one they heard on the supply retrieval, just before a swarm of undead rolled down on them. He'd made a point to walk the entire camp fence this morning, noting any places that needed repairs or reinforcing. Now, he was watching. A sniper rifle was set up on a tripod to his left. Anything that moved outside that fence had better move human or it was going to get blown away.
It was quiet. Deathly so. She'd explored the camp again for another half hour and, finding nobody, had headed upwards to one of the Guard Towers, hoping someone hanging around in one of those could actually make sense of all of this.
She found the guy with his back to her. She was stealthy, she knew, but this--He didn't seem to be expecting the threat -- whatever that was -- to be able to climb upwards and into his tower. Instead, he was looking out at the threat through a sniper rifle and Buffy cleared her throat softly, announcing her presence in case she'd totally misread the situation and he tried to do something really awkward-inducing.
He'd heard her come up the steps to the tower, but her gait was human. No crazy shambling or worse, those skittering things, so he didn't go on alert. The voice was unfamiliar, though, so he was a little suspicious when he turned. New arrival?
"Hey. You just getting to camp or did I miss you in the craziness shuffle?"
Buffy held up her hands in the international sign of 'please don't shoot', smiled a little at the guy.
"I've been here three days-ish. Give or take." The give part being the one where she'd headed back to her room and lay down, hoping she'd wake up from this freaky nightmare. That hadn't happened yet. And that wasn't something she'd be sharing, either, since it wasn't one of her defining moments.
