Man, fuck that sf_d post (http://sf-drama.livejournal.com/3231809.html). I cannot deal with butterbuns  and fornikate in the same post apparently.

Why do idiots always try, in a discussion about rape, make the analogy "Well, you wouldn't leave a car unlocked, would you? It would just get stolen."

All these theft analogies are probably an extension of seeing sex as a commodity rather than an act. Somebody stole some sex? Well, you should have had it locked up in the first place. Of course displaying it is going to attract thieves. No acknowledgment that rape is more like a gunshot wound or a stabbing, in that it's a crime of violence against a human being that can involve years of rehab and recovery if it's survived in the first place, and even so the person may never be quite the same after. No, it's like getting a wallet stolen. Just go out and get a new one and 'be more careful' with it, whatever.
