Why is it that, when you make any kinda of physical change, people somehow feel they have a right to an opinion about it? A coworker of mine expressed interest in dreadlocks and everyone and their mother went off on her telling her how dirty and disgustin they were and all these other stupid misconceptions... it pissed me off ( Read more... )

I don't think it has anything to do with racism, but rather shit like lice, etc. My friend had to cut his dreadlocks (which he NEVER washed) because he got lice and various other nasties.

i think, also, it brings to mind dirty bum ex hippies who don't bathe and their hair does it on their own.

there's shampoo for dreadlocks, and various scalp treatment products. So it's not like they HAVE to be dirty.

i actually had the same issue. and i said "fuck the haters!" a lot of them have changed there opinion. but still...it is your body. do what you wish. and dont let anyone tell you its dumb, gross or ugly.
