Currently this exists as "Clean," a missing scene from "Uprising." And I've been driving Empress nuts by calling it the Malcolm Merlyn Shower Scene. ;)
hmm... i expect he wears the leather jacket when it's cold out. ;D
other people he seems to be trying to fool are perhaps his former 'associates' that he mentions every now and again. or maybe he's worn suits so often that he feels comfortable in them, more like his old powerful (employed) self.
when he wants thea to warm up to him, he wears the casual stuff (plus in corto maltese, one expects it's rather warm weather there). then he wants to look 'respectable' to her, so that's why he wears the suit when he goes to see her. he is a master manipulator, and 'the clothes make the man' so they say. he can be projecting an image. (also i think it's easier to wear kevlar under a suit than under just a casual shirt or short sleeves. ;) )
too much malcolm? well look, who wanted him back so badly? The Fans! didn't they? now they're going to complain? i guess it's different fans. ;)
season 4 got signed, so we don't have anything to worry about. just yet.
I really don't think you can feel comfortable in a suit? Especially with the tie constricting your neck? In fact, John has mentioned that he does not like ties, and when he is in suit and shirt, he always has an open collar in concerts or at TV shows.
Therefore I noticed when at the end of season 1, when he was walking around the tied up Oliver, how he has no tie and looks so much more relaxed. I love the casual Malcolm Merlyn look ;)
some people who wear suits get comfortable in them. feeling... i dunno, dressed up, even armored with all those layers. and some people... just can't wait to get out of them ;D
