About: Arrow: Green & Black

Curious as to what this story/series is all about? The author rambles on about the work.

I wasn't going to write any Arrow fanfic. Actually, I wasn't going to like the show at all too much (shows I tend to really love always get cancelled). Truth be told, I only started watching it because I accidentally stumbled on the factoid that John Barrowman would be in it, and I really admire his acting skills.

So I was minding my own business, enjoying the show well enough, especially all those pieces it left out of the puzzle that made you think and try to figure them out. But I was NOT going to go ga-ga over the characters and world and start building on that. Not me, no.

Then I somehow missed the penultimate episode. So when I watched it (I don't have a TV, so I watch it on the CW site), and got to the thrilling cliffhanger, the next episode was right there, and I could just segue right into it. But no...! It was such a good cliffhanger, I decided to torment myself and wait til the next week (or maybe the weekend) before watching the season finale.

Big Mistake.

Because then I wondered aloud to my Brain, "What are they going to do next?" To which my Brain replied, "They're going to sit down and have a rational conversation about all this." Oh really!?

Then my Brain absconded to Tijuana for a weekend and spit out the conversations and interactions that make up the backbone of Green & Black. And man... this was some Good Stuff! Drama! Tension! Conflict!

The thing is, I have this big weak spot for the "Enemy Mine" trope. (WARNING: clicking on a TV Tropes link may lead to wandering off into the many-branched endless forest that is the tropes site. Use with caution.) I love when enemies have to call a truce and work together. It's such a crucible of seething animosity that neither one can act on.

Anyway, no big surprise that my Brain was correct. In the Arrow Season One Finale, the two enemies "have a little conversation." My version goes quite differently, and Malcolm stacks the deck by having Oliver's friends as hostage to this deal to work together. And he does something that villains rarely do... he's willing to change his plans. (Actually, has this ever happened? Anyone know any examples?)

So the Hood and the Dark Archer are working together, while Malcolm tries to convince Oliver that his way is right, and Oliver is trying to stop the disaster that Malcolm is planning to unleash. They both want what is best for their city. Can they come to a mutual agreement on what that is?

Now unable to leave this universe alone, my Brain has developed a "Final Season" for Green & Black, where all of the conflicts are resolved. Or explode. Well, an explosion is a kind of resolution, isn't it?

And on top of that, since analyzing and talking about Malcolm's character with Astra, I've started developing another fic about Malcolm and Tommy's history, stemming from the question: "Did Malcolm ever beat his son?"

Scary, huh? It's gonna be gooooooood!
