I do agree there just isn't good- really good vamp fiction anymore. What I have read in the past years apnd months is just one regenerated storyline after the next. Perhaps each has a different twist, day walkers, sparkling, baby vamps, teen love...blah blah blah. There isn't nothing new. The only thing that truly works is excellent character development. The reader has to WANT to know what is going to happen next, a MUST NEED to know ( ... )

First I want to say... OMG AIDAN!!!!! I LOVE IT!!! (Swoons waving hand at face for cool air) my I don't think a vampire has made me feel all warm and fuzzy since IWTV days.

Yes I agree the best vamp fiction I have read I have fallen in love with the characters. From Rice, Ward, Harris, Hamilton absolutely in love and felt that "had to know " feeling. Lately it is lackluster and repetitive where thus storyline is mainly sleep with a hot vamp while he tries to save you from the bad gang of vamps that want to kill you. Over and over again. I miss reading where the characters engage me so that I want to continue the trilogy and I am tired of reading vamps falling for teens and seeing it on television so I agree with this article whole heartedly.

I have to be honest I did watch the Twilight movies but didn't finish reading the series. What was the point ? Same thing with Harry Potter god you could just go see the damn movies never ever have to turn a page.

Yeah that pretty much happens with vamps once one book turns into a movie and all the tweens latch on. Pretty much ruinz it for quite some time. Hell I even jumped off the true blood wagon. I simply could not take that homely sookie anymore and the fact that every single character found her ugly ass so irresistable. And that small headed Eric...*gag* Couldn't do it.

Sadly the genre pretty much becomez a joke. Even *Dracula* is a snoozer, 4 me anyway. I didn't even bother with season finale and I will be shocked if it returns.

Still cracks me up - you and the smallness of Eric's head. You did ruin my crushing on him you know because I never noticed until you pointed it out. I liked the show more when Eric was a bad ass. Sookie not so much. She annoyed me in the show more than in the books- strange but she did.

I confess I am one of those who reads the cheapies and the freebies on my ereader just so I can whip through them because they are always short. I HAVE TO be reading SOMETHING I can't help it. PLUS I can find stuff in the horror genre easier than always just seeing Stephen King - I LOVE the KING don't get me wrong but I do like reading other writers too and SOMETIMES you can find a good one. Really, truly, believe me, it is possible.

Anyway...I can tell you with all my personal experience in the what some call the **crap section** there are many, many redundant stories, trilogies, chronicles, what not especially vampire BUT... Occasionally you can find one that makes you go hm...that was good, really good to bad they are not being noticed. That is RARE though very RARE and most are EROTUCA. Sex with the vampire but...what else could you do with a vampire. Who's attention span now a days is long enough to listen to a dragged out tale of historical precedent??? Hm... let's just hit the hay!! LOL>

I think it just needs to be revitalized sugar. With all the attention on Zombie killings I think, well at least I am hopeful, this will be the breathing room the vampire genre needs. I read Anne Rice is set to do another Erotica book, pretty soon I think she is going to announce the title. I am interested for sure.
