US Season One DVD set

Jul 16, 2009 05:37

So we're in the US and got the set other day. Sat down to watch and noticed they made a theme song and opening. I don't like it lol. I loved the way it would just fade in on the Blood Ties title screen. I miss that soft music that would play.

I'm weird but it really irritates me. I guess they wanted it to look nice but I still don't care for it.

I'm the opposite, in the UK we had the theme and opening all along, so I really missed it when I, um, acquired the later episodes.

I guess it's just what you're used to. I LOVE the theme (assuming it's the same we have)

Agree with you (my uk dvds have the theme on all I think? Certainly when aired on Living all had the theme)
I miss the days of shows that had themes. The A Team, Lost in Space, right up to NYPD blue, Buffy, even the brief Alias intro sequence (plus the CSI franchise giving The Who a new audience). When you think of those shows, you think of the theme; if you hear the theme, you remember the show.
Now so many just put up a title screen. It seems a bit..lazy.

Yeah, the UK dvd's have the theme on, I would have seriously pouted if they hadn't.

I'm very much the same, the theme is the "signature" to a show in my mind, is very much linked with it forever to me.

Well that's not how they aired here in the US. I suppose if we had the theme all along I wouldn't mind it cause I would be used to it.

It just seems kinda cheesy to me. But hey at least I have all the Eps and they look perfect <3

Totally agree - that bloody - no pun intended - annoying song was on the UK DVD set already and I was SO hoping it wouldn't be on the US realase... *sigh* WHY?! Lost is doing fine without a song and opening sequence!

Yay someone who agrees. It seems it's just a US thing lol. Weird how they had the theme all along and we never did, I wonder why that is...

Something else to worry about. I was checking reviews online, and one person had complained about the captions - advertised, but not included. And hey, how much did everyone pay for their DVD set? I'm planning on getting it, no question, but I noticed that it was around $17. Anyone else get that?

I think that's what mine cost.

It seems most people like it so I guess it's good they did it that way for the DVD. I thought I would be one of the few that didn't like the opening and theme and was right lol.

Aww... at first I was thrown off, but I'd heard the theme before I saw it connected to the show, which was a good thing. THen I got used to the song before seeing it with the clips.
