I'd be terribly pleased, except for the fact that it appears from the article that they are turning Tony into a girl:
As Smoke & Mirrors begins, ‘Darkest Night' has started production of season two and Henry has a surprise visit from an old friend who needs his help.
Unable to turn her away, he convinces the show to hire her on as a PA. During the first episode, Henry's friend is flabbergasted to discover special talents and, as the episode ends, is presented with a netbook computer that doubles as a spell-book.
I agree with you, but I can't say I'm surprised. I would probably have been annoyed about Tony not being in Blood Ties (as some people were), except I saw the show before I ever read the books. But the Smoke books are about Tony! Bah.
Exactly. I kinda feel bad for Tanya. This story idea totally betrays the central theme of the Smoke books, which is Tony's longing for independence from Henry, and Henry's reluctant sufferance of Tony's need to be free to make his own choices.
The fact that Tony turns out to be something more than anyone ever expected is gravy. :-)
This would not have happened unless Tanya signed a contract, so she's probably okay with it. (I would have asked her at FilKONtario if I'd known about it.) She's never been averse to making money from her work. Obviously a television adaptation of a novel is just an interpretation; it doesn't change the original work. The story may be about Tony (or Toni, maybe) but y'all watch for Henry. ;) If they don't turn Henry into a passive-aggressive sparkly stalker-boy, it'll be okay.
Ah I saw someone pose the question days ago on how they'll get around the Tony/Henry relationship thing... apparently the answer is to turn Tony into a girl. Don't they realise the books are ABOUT Tony?? Seriously, WTF? You've just changed the entire series there. Not to mention I absolutly fell in LOVE with the Tony/Lee storyline throughout the books... they could have addressed some real issues there instead of running from them. Notice they've also made Mason (aka Raymond Dark) female as well :\ I'm kinda not happy about this. I guess I'll watch it just for the novelty of knowing the series, but I'll probably be grumbling all the way through :(

Which really pisses me off.

Not to mention that the whole premise as described in the article sounds like she is the worst case (of Bella Swan proportions) of Mary-Sue. X( DNW!

And would they be getting our lovely Henry from Blood Ties back? He's cool, and I liked him as Henry.
