Characters

Just some charts, for organization's sake, of characters that I'll probably drag out again and again, because I love them.

Jem/Gil/Gem Locksun

"You're not dead. Congratulations."

The most survivalist character that I've ever developed, and, at times, a bit (a lot) of a Gary Stu. Despite my hardest efforts, Jem, who also goes by Gil in some other stories, has survived and conquered pretty much everything that could be thrown at him. He's been a rogue, a thief, a pirate, and a womanizer in different universes, despite being of rather average looks and average stature. He's smart, with a range of talents to get him through his many different lifestyles. Despite having a range of different character roles, his character itself hardly changes from story to story.

notes-

• basic character

Intelligent, can be unobservant, stubborn, rude, at times weak-willed, more likely to run than fight, at times witty, hardy, a survivalist that looks out for number one. Handy with small guns, knives, and small swords. Typical of the thief gambit, though could, with some slight character reform, become a 'hero'. Fatal flaw: doesn't look out for others, so has trouble developing relationships outside of the common alliance. While this may make him somewhat of the 'poor me I don't have friends' type, in his line of work, and with his personality needs, this can be crippling.

Hawke Helgold

"If you are still determined to take your own life, please do so outside."

The 'hero' of my current fantasy idea, and a widower. His wife was killed by one of the enemy forces before the plot of my idea even began; her death is one of the main motivators behind his actions later. He's also one of the most even characters that I have ever developed- his flaws, which are many, hopefully compensate for his role in the story.

notes-

• basic character

Possessed of an average intelligence, impatient, can be quite crude, blames others for his troubles instead of himself, can be quite tactless, and prone to haughtiness regarding other races. Can at times be a bit of a charmer. Despite his many faults, though, Hawke has many of the characteristics that allow him to make the kind of leader his band of rebels needs- he's not afraid of being wrong, he can make decisions in tight situations, and can hide his faults when he needs to in order to be charismatic. Fatal flaw: Anger. Hawke has a short temper and lacks the patience to work through his anger; things that set him off often leave him driven for revenge, such as the killing of his wife. His anger spawns an undying desire to get even with those that wrong him, and that often leads Hawke into many a sticky situation.

Anders Dietrich

"I don't think I've ever seen a girl quite like you before."

A wonderful boy that lives in several different plot bunnies, namely a steampunk number where he lives with his sister Emmiline and builds small robot companions out of scrap. Is usually kidnapped from home and forced into some random terrible service, such as working in a mine or serving in an army.

notes-

• basic character

Naive, innocent, a child; his age has ranged from twelve to seventeen, and his mentality has always been terribly trusting. He's a generally nice kid, though prone to all kid problems- he doesn't share well, doesn't interact with adults well, and is more often than not cripplingly ignorant to the wrongs of the world around him. He doesn't adapt well to being treated poorly, and can be a bit of a crybaby. Also physically puny, as he's a child. Fatal flaw: he's entirely too trusting of others. Anders often gets thrown into situations where he's presented with people perfectly willing to lie and manipulate him in order to achieve their own ends, and Anders is all too willing to allow them to do so; not only does it hurt him, but those around him.
