Ruki sat down stroking Reita’s sweat soaked bangs out of his eyes. OK, so maybe having Reita cuddle with while he was sick was not the greatest idea ever…but after hearing Reita tell little Koron his whole heart felt confession he couldn’t help it. He was too tired to really say anything and moving his mouth felt impossible, it was like someone locked it shut. Kissing Reita on the cheek he got up. Reita’s eyes opening, they landed on Ruki.
“I’ll be back in a bit, babe, I need to get some clothes from your apartment for you. I left several water bottles on the night stand and some pain medicine, but before I go, you need some medicine, its bubblegum flavored!”
Reita sat up a bit and smiled.
“I’m not three, ya know, actually I am older than you.”
Ruki pouted and poured three teaspoons as the bottle said, he was actually surprised when he saw they had bubblegum flavored medicine for adults.
“Now go ‘Ah!’ for me.”
Reita looked at him and put his hand out for the tiny medicine cup. Ruki pouted and handed him the tiny cup and watched as Reita swallowed down the thick pink liquid. Ruki retrieved the empty medicine cup from Reita and sat on the edge of the bed for second leaning up against the older man.
“When I get back, let’s cuddle, I want to tease you about spilling your heart to Koron.”
Reita rolled his eyes drowsily, leaning against Ruki in attempts to fall asleep. Ruki lowered him down into the fluffy down filled pillows. He kissed Reita on top of the head.
“I’ll be back in a bit, remember take it easy. Sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite!”
Reita, only seeing darkness from his eyes being closed heard Ruki in some other part of the flat, the jingle of keys and finally the door opening and closing. All was silent except the faint voices from the TV in the living room. He was almost asleep when a deep voice awoke him and by deep voice, it was like the Old Spice guy deep voice.
“Akira.”
The blonde tried to ignore it until he heard it again then felt a light presence on his lap.
“Akira.”
Sitting up he looked at Koron who was sitting on his lap. He blinked and was about to lay down when…
“Don’t you fall asleep on me, human.”
“Holy fuck! Koron!?
“Such vulgar language. Yes it’s me, who else would it be, the Easter Bunny?”
Okay, something was wrong here. Dogs do not talk and if they did, Reita highly doubted Koron’s voice would be deeper than his.
“Uhm…”
“You are probably shocked I am talking right? Well, I am able to, I just choose not to.”
“This is blowing my mind…”
“Hm, now, anyways I would like to say you better take care of my master, or I will torture you.”
“How? You're such a little thing.”
“You know your favorite vest?”
“Yeah…”
“I peed on it.”
“What!? Why you-”
“Just kidding, but hurt my Takanori, I will do worse things that peeing on jackets.”
Reita nodded, this was odd, it was understandable about him talking to the dog, but the dog actually replying back, was blowing his mind.
“Well, before Takanori gets back I wish to tell you something, Akira.”
“Err…OK.”
“So talkative before and now so quiet, understandable, you do have a fever of a hundred point five. Anyways I think you should know Takanori has liked you for a long time, when you’re feeling better ask him about it. He’s a hopeless romantic.”
Reita leaned back against the pillows, looking at the clock it read ‘1:37 PM’ he decided to close his eyes for a moment. Reita suddenly felt something cool being placed on his forehead and the blanket being tucked securely around him. Opening his eyes weakly, he felt sticky eye boogers in the corner of his eyes. Opening his eyes he was greeted by the sight of Ruki sitting on the chair next to the bed. Glancing at the clock he noticed it read ‘4:14PM’. He sat up and Ruki smiled at him.
“How did you sleep?”
“Pretty good…I still feel like shit.”
“Yes, I know, know lay back down, the rag can’t stay on your head if you sit up like that.”
“Hey, Ru…?”
“Yes?”
“Your dog…talked to me.”
“Koron talks to me all the time, making cute little noises.”
“No, by talking I mean…like full blown sentences…in a deep voice, like that man from those Old Spice commercials…”
Ruki placed a hand on Reita’s head, wiping the water off with a towel he ran the temporal thermometer over his forehead.
“Oh…baby, your temperature went up…you probably imagined it all…high fevers tend to make people delusional.”
“Ruki, he was I swear, like two minutes after you left he was talking to me, we had a ten minute conversation.”
“Babe, that’s not possible-”
“Ruki…”
“Its not possible because I came back five minutes later because I forgot your house key and when I checked on you, you were asleep.”
Reita blinked…so it had been a dream…well that might explain a lot. Ruki passed Reita a glass of ice water and the bass player drank it all up, the chilly water making him feel cooler. After slowly being laid down, he was tucked in by Ruki.
“I have some cleaning that needs to get done, if you need anything ring that bell.”
Reita nodded and closed his eyes, the sound of the bedroom door closing leaving him sure he was alone. Rolling over onto his side he saw Koron facing him the dog had a smile on his face and if Reita wasn’t so sleepy, he would have been positive that dog laughed with a big smile on his face. It had to be the medicine, that was his only explanation.
