Picking New Headshots, SUITS is Phenomenal, and Jen's Kindle Fire Giveaway

Dec 09, 2012 19:58

Over two months. It's been OVER two months since I checked in here last. So, I thought it would behoove me to at least stop in and say hi, see how folks are doing, that sort of thing, since I feel like I haven't talked to a bunch of you in about a million years. There have been a few developments in the last couple of months, but I'll try to keep ( Read more... )

Maybe my opinion is the minority but I vote heavily for the first pic. It just looks more like an author's headshot to me. (And I absolutely love that jacket!! Where did you get it? It's gorgeous and looks so good on you!!)

Date when you feel like it- and not a moment before! There's nothing wrong with getting out there, checking match.com, introducing yourself to a handsome stranger, but there's also nothing wrong with saying "now is not the time".

And screw the nasty reviewers- of course books end on cliffhangers. If everything was wrapped up nicely with a pretty little bow, why would you even write a second one? Duh.

As for developments- I bought a house.

Holy bajoley -- See, this is what happens when I stay away from LJ too long. You bought a house? That's huge. What kind of house? I've become obsessed with the notion of house-buying personally, though I'm still at least a year from making that a reality... Doesn't stop me from watching HGTV's House Hunters and House Hunters International and Property Virgins and Love It Or List It and... Well, clearly you get the idea. Congratulations! Very, very exciting for you. Now I have to mosey back to your LJ page and stalk your previous posts to see if there are pictures. Yay you!

As for me... It's so funny that you said the first author photo; that's actually the one I had picked out, until everyone started choosing others. It definitely seems authorly to me, as well, but I was beginning to think that was just me. Hmm... As for the jacket: Got it at this great discount place locally. $20, baby. Because I do love my bargains.

So good to hear from you, bb! Another reminder that I REALLY need to come back here more often!

It's half of a duplex. My neighbors are super awesome and love my cats (thank god!). I watch those shows all the time too! Except now that I actually have a house to do stuff with I'm like "Oh, I love that! Oh, I love that! Oh, I love that! Now, which do I do??" and I'm like terrified of doing anything because what if I find something I like better in like a week?? lol.

I'll be posting pictures soon. I have a ton of the actual remodel process and some of all the boxes (omg, boxes- the bane of my existence!). I still haven't found a home for everything nor have I hung everything and the clutter is making me crazy!! I'm having a Christmas party this Saturday though so I'll take lots of pictures because I'll have to hide all the crap for the party anyway. lol.

And I have a backyard. Which means I'm thinking of getting a dog. Oh god, I'm so on the fence about that.

Like you I haven't been out here in ages. Real life is just too busy. But in the pic category, I like #2 in the center. It has the most life.

Voting for pic 1. As lovely as your smile is in the second one, the bunched jacket distracts me.

(Yes, I'm aware I have issues...)

Look at them. LOOOK. *sigh* So, so glad you fell in love with this awesome show, too. January is going to be fun! Did you realize we forgot to discuss the can opener? Also, if you feel like looking for any fic mine's all at comm or in my journal :)

Hope you're feeling better ♥

Nice headshots! I hate getting headshots done, but yours turned out really nice. Of the three, I really like #1. Closer up (my god, can you tell I'm a writer?) and the red really makes your blue eyes pop.

So glad the books are doing really well. And you know the golden rule - you can't please everyone, so don't even bother trying. Ignore the nasty reviews. Easier said than done, I know, but do your best. Why is it that the high from a good review last 10 seconds but the low from a bad one last 10 weeks? WHY?

Glad you're feeling better. Being sick sucks (says me, who is getting over a lab-confirmed case of the flu)!

And remember - 'Life begins at 40' so don't be in a rush to get into something just to beat an arbitrary deadline. Pick carefully, not hurriedly. It's a decision you may be living with for a long time...

Okay, so I've officially selected #1 as my headshot of choice. I just feel like it's more authorial than the others -- every "official" shot I've seen of other writers always seems to have them more pensive than smiling, which I kind of like about #1. So... That's what I'm going with.

Ah, those nasty reviews. I'm getting much better about them now; it helps that there are more good reviews than bad, for sure. But I really admire those people that just let it roll off their backs. Clearly, they know something I don't about this business!

And as for the dating: Yeah, I think I'm holding off for a little bit longer. At least until the next book is out there. Take the next three months to focus on finishing up the novel and doing the marketing and such... And THEN, come spring, we'll see what happens!

So good to hear from you, bb!!
