So I had planned on going in to do some paperwork today, but last night before heading out my father gets a hold of me and says,"Hey do you want to go to the track?"

This is generally (wholly?) unrelated. But your post (and the amusing banter regarding friends in low places) compels me to recommend a book I think you'd appreciate. A biography of a guy named Frenchy (who was heavy into the New Orleans mafia) called 'Mr. New Orleans'. I really think you'd dig it.

I've got a copy I'd be happy to loan you if you have any interest. Not trying to press it on you. I just know you like the city and I think the history might appeal to you as much as it appealed to me.
