Mornings are becoming Charlie's favorite time of day.

He wakes up slowly, warm to his bones, his nose pressed to Darien's back. He moves his lips slowly across Darien's shoulders and kisses his arm. "Y'awake?"

Charlie kisses his ear and sits up. He fidgets a moment, then looks at Darien and debates poking him.

"You gotta pee or something, baby?"

One big brown eye opens to look as he tips his head back, while the other squints.

"Evntually. It's boring without you. Not peeing. Everything else." He reaches under the blankets and lightly tickles his ribs. "Come play with me?"
