Hmmm... I actually like the War of the Worlds trailer. Great atmosphere, and Spielberg has never lacked for the ability to create it. Where he falls short is the ability to let it sell itself, without overpowering music to sledgehammer the audience. Maybe "They're Already Here" is just a massively fucking stupid tagline that has nothing to do with the actual film. Why do I hope? I guess I'm just stupid.

As for the Wonka trailer, God fucking damn that's an annoying song. Like pixies pissing soda pop straight up my ass. Outstanding visual style, but then, Burton never fails to deliver the visuals. It's other places where he falls down... and who is this fucking trailer pitched at, anyway? Five-year-olds? Stupid five-year-olds? Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a sinister fairy tale about a psychedelic nonconformist whose factory eats mediocre and immoral children. If they took out all the non-sequitors and Wonka-isms and so forth... I'll be pissed.

i'm sure it'll creep me out as much as the original did. if not more. Johnny depp ooks me out to begin with. but at least the ommpa loompas don't look as scary.
