Carrie got two sticks of 512 RAM after asking for more RAM for quite awhile. So I disconnected power to the PC and pushed the buttons on the top and bottom of the case. The case kind of swung in half so the motherboard is on one side and all the drives and other IDE devices were on the other side of the case.
First, I had to pop open the plastic strip to free all the cards. Then I had to basically pivot out the AGP Video Card because it was secured on the board with a little hook. Now, why am I bothering with the Video Card if it’s new RAM that I’m installing? Well see the slots for the RAM run down and are just above the Video Card that the bottom clamps for the RAM hit the Video Card so you can’t install or remove RAM without taking out the Video Card.
So with the RAM in, I closed the case and tried to boot up the PC. On boot up, I got an error about inserting a Boot Device or Disk. I checked the BIOS and the Bootup was going to the hard drive and it seemed the RAM was just fine. So I popped the case open again and I saw the IDE connect had come loose. Since the drives are on one side of the case and the motherboard is on the other and you open the case like a book, all the IDE cables become stretched out. They give enough length for their installed hardware, but I set a slave drive to the master hard drive and so that IDE cable is just short enough to pop out easily. Which is interesting because while I can pop the IDE cable for the Hard Drive easily, but it takes several steps to even get to the RAM.
Finally, I booted the PC up again and all was fine.
This weekend is Free Comic Book Day. Most local stores will be giving away free comics and having other events. If you want to find out more about a store near you and what they’re doing go to
http://www.freecomicbookday.com/Locally, I’ll be out at Zeus Comics in Dallas for their Comic And Popculture Expo. There will be over 61 different creators there. And the best part - the admission is free. For more information about that, go to
http://www.zeuscomics.com/cape/And for more information about my comic which should be ready for order, go to:
http://www.warpton.comSo this Saturday either come out and visit me, or at least visit your local comic shop and get some free comics. Those are your two choices; you have to do one or the other. I think that’s pretty fair.
