Ithaca and Bard both run really good music departments (I think Bard now has a conservatory). U. of Rochester runs Eastman conservatory. That's about all I know.
You *know* I'm gonna yell at you for not looking at Mount Holyoke, right? ;)
Hmm...Connecticut College I've heard good things about, as well as Dickinson, Goucher, Sarah Lawrence and Reed.
I have a friend at Colorado College who loves it - you take only one class at a time, for like 3 weeks, and it really works well for his learning style.
Randolph-Macon's rep who came to my high school came across as the stereotypical Southern gentlemen - the kind who thinks women should wear long dresses and have doors held open for them. Possibly not the kind of environment you are looking for.
My mom went to Hobart and William Smith - she really liked it because it had no sororities.
I don't know what school size you are looking for, but I really like the 2000-2500 students range - you feel like you know almost everyone, but are always meeting new people.
