Character: Agito/Akito Wanijima, Shark, Fang King
Series/Fandom: Air Gear
Deviance: 1, roughly the point at which the manga is now at.
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Appearance:
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e196/edonochibisan/realitypicture.jpg He is about 142cm tall, weighs 38 kg and his blood type is AB. Golden eyes, blue hair.
Psychology: The most striking thing about Akito’s personality is that he in fact has two! They’re so distinct from each other that they can be considered as two completely different people. You will always deal with either Akito or Agito although every now and then Akito can force Agito to do a certain movement. You can tell who’s standing in front of you by the position of the eye patch, when it covers the right eye you are talking to Akito and when it covers the left Agito is in control. When the eye patch comes off and Agito is in charge he will be much stronger thanks to the added strength of Akito.
As stated, although they share the same body they are very different from each other personality-wise. Akito is the light side while Agito is the dark side.
Akito likes ice cream, birds (particularly crows) and dogs while Agito likes blood, sharks and cats. Can you tell the difference yet?
Akito acts his young age, he is innocent, happy and cheerful. He cares about his friends and is usually always ready to help them out! Or at least let Agito help out for him. He isn’t a fan of violence although Agito has said that an angry Akito is even worse than an angry Agito.
He seems to have a love of cute and slightly eccentric clothing, including frog-eyed hoodies, messenger bags and over-sized hats. He also isn’t afraid to cross-dress and might just like it. Next to that he is also more than likely gay since he has a big crush on Ikki, often sneaking in bed with him and wanting to share baths. He has also kissed him on more than one occasion.
Agito on the other hand is much more violent and aggressive, to the point that he has a real bloodlust. He is often and rightfully compared to a shark.
He is easily frustrated and tends to swear a lot, his choice of word being “Fuck!” He’s also rude and not afraid to say what is on his mind, no matter how bad it is. If he thinks you suck (and it doesn’t take much for him to think so), he will tell you so. But, he will respect you when you deserve it, though be careful because you can easily lose it this status again.
What Agito cares about most is to protect Akito, after all he showed up when Akito needed him most. He battles in Akito’s place so he doesn’t have to handle the violence. Agito gets worried about not being able to protect Akito properly and will ask his forgiveness in such situations. Of course Akito never holds anything against him, since he loves his alter ego. Agito is at his strongest when protecting Akito.
General Skills/Abilities: The most obvious skill Agito has would be that he is great at riding his air treck but he is also a skilled fighter when using them. Using his regalia he can produce his signature move: the fang, a powerful gust created through the instantaneous acceleration and braking of the A-T's wheel motors, vacuuming and compressing air into such a powerful wave it can damage you greatly. Agito has shown he can actually produce this Fang without the use of the regalia when he removes his eye patch and in this way using Akito’s power together with his own. The problem is that it takes a lot of energy out of them, meaning they can use it only once and it will leave them basically immobilised afterwards.
General Weaknesses: Agito has been hospitalised before for long periods, showing he’s just as easily hurt as you and me. He is after all only a small kid who can have problems standing up against heavier and physically stronger opponents.
He also has issues with his physique, especially when using his special Fang attack he gets tired fast.
History: We don’t know that much about Akito’s childhood other than at the age of 14 he was living with his brother Kaito and had been working for his Wind SWAT team for a while now. This team hunts down and arrests Storm Rider teams. Akito’s job was to hunt them down using his own ATs. (Air Treck: a type of inline skates with a motor build inside.)
Akito was very skilled at riding these and even made it as far as becoming the Fang King. Kings are the most advanced users in the AT world, each possessing a unique 'Regalia' as proof of their status. Akito rides the bloody road and owns the fang regalia.
This was until Akito couldn’t handle what his brother was using him for anymore. It was at that point that Agito appeared, a much more aggressive personality who took over Akito’s body when he had to fight. Since he now rides more than Akito he has become more experienced at AT and has taken the Fang King title.
Agito’s first priority is protecting Akito, not wanting to see him get hurt. They both share the same body but only one controls it at a time, but they can still ‘talk’ to each other in thought. He’s an aggressive rider and creates his bloody road by cutting apart his opponent and spinning him around rapidly in the air making the blood spin into a ‘road’. He also says leaving his marks on others is his road.
Then one day, they meet Itsuki “Ikki” Minami. At first Agito is out to get him but then Ikki tells them about freedom and compares Agito to a frog in a well. The frog doesn’t dream about big oceans, it dreams about the one thing it has always looked up at from when it was young, the sky. Considering Ikki was known as the prodigy to become the new sky king this might have been a bad choice of words as Akito promptly fell in love with him and after taking the body over from Agito kissed him full on the lips. From that moment he decided to grab the freedom he didn’t have with his brother and joined Ikki’s team, Kogarasumaru. Of course Agito involuntarily had to follow.
Agito once again does most of the riding work in this team, though he is very reluctant to ride with these low-class riders. It needs to be mentioned that at this point in time he didn’t own the fang regalia, having lost it to an old friend of his, Akira. But, he devices a plan to get it back using Kogarasumaru.
Akira worked with him back on the SWAT team, both were used to hunt down other AT users, mainly ones who were doing illegal activity. It was during one of these hunts that Akira got himself into trouble by shooting a girl’s brother, originally having thought he was going to hurt her when really he was just out to protect her.
He felt so guilty he started spending time with her and soon they ended up being together. She wanted one thing though, the Fang Regalia and thus set up a battle to get it from Agito. (You can fight other riders with the price being AT parts and in this case the regalia.) Akira however stopped her and took her place in the battle and won, thus receiving the regalia from Agito and ending their friendship.
Now to get it back Agito would have to challenge the team Akira was now a part of, Behemoth. In order to do this he would have to make the name of his own team known and did so by taking on other low-class teams on his own and easily defeated them to gain more territory at a fast rate. The news of this travelled fast and soon enough a challenge was set. (Even if not all went according to Agito’s plan mainly because of Ikki’s interference.)
It was a long and hard one-on-one battle, 5 vs 5. It all came down to Agito vs. Akira and Ikki vs. Mitsuru Bando, both having to win to claim victory for their team. Ikki, being one to think outside of the box and not likely to follow rules, managed to get the two battles intertwined and thanks to that they together managed to beat the incredible force that was Behemoth’s top two riders and Agito rightfully reclaimed his title as Fang King and owner of the Fang Regalia.
At this point Kaito shows up again, angry at Agito’s betrayal he shoots him repeatedly with rubber bullets, this together with the injuries he got during the battle ends him in the hospital. While he is there Simca decides to form ‘Genesis’, Genesis is a team of skilled Storm Riders (including four kings) and also a conglomeration of numerous teams that have united under one banner, resulting in what is known to be the largest, and most powerful Storm Rider team in history. Their goal is to conquer the Trophaeum Tower, the ultimate dream of many riders.
They offer Ikki to become their leader by joining his team, however he decides that instead he will challenge Genesis though he doesn’t tell anyone about this and pretends he will become their leader. To be able to stand up against them, Kogarasumaru battles many other teams to raise their team’s class. After this, Agito returns.
Together with the rest of his team they go on a schooltrip to Kensei where Ikki would meet one of Genesis's Kings, Yoshitsune, the Rumble King. Though it was first questioned if Akito would be able to go with them since he didn’t have any money. (He had been living with Ikki so he hadn’t needed any yet.) They decide to retrieve his savings from Kaito, who has them in his RV still. Though they do everything to not get caught as he and Ikki sneak in there Kaito does walk in on them but pretends he doesn’t believe they’re really there, that instead he is hallucinating from drinking too much. He does indirectly tell them where his saving are and after grabbing them Akito thanks him and he can now go with the rest of the team on their school trip.
During the trip Akito (Who happened to be wearing a wedding-like dress at the time and thus was mistaken for a girl.) was kidnapped by Trident together with Emily and Yayoi, two members of Kogarasumaru. By the time Ikki arrives Agito has already taken down all of Trident’s members and it is revealed that Yoshitsune is the leader of this team. Ikki challenges him and wins which means Trident will collaborate with Genesis.
Next follows another stay at the hospital as Ikki has supposedly fractured his knee during the battle and Agito stays too to recover from some injuries he got during the trip. More stuff happens with other characters and when they are released from the hospital Ikki decides to leave the Noyamano sister’s house where he’d been living. Akito of course decides to tag along and they end up living on the streets.
They were then invited to stay at Tool Toul To’s headquarters, they’re a completely neutral group who specialise in helping to tune the air treck and regalia of the kings so they can perform perfectly according to the king’s needs. While staying there we find out that the Trophaeum tower can be found right here. Though Akito is reluctant, Ikki and Agito enter the tower and are met with Sleeping Forest, the team which opposes Genesis. They reveal to Ikki what the true intentions of Sora, the original sky king, are and why he wants the Sky regalia.
It is also revealed that Akito is Agito’s tuner, saying he is the only one who can hear all of Agito’s inner sounds since they share the same body.
Some more stuff happens which isn’t very related to Agito and at this point in time he is once again training to become better at using the fang regalia.
Reality Description: Simply put Agito lives in modern day Japan with the biggest difference from our reality being that there tend to fly some kids around on Air Treck.
Air Trecks, or AT for short, are different from inline skates in that they have motors and air cushions in each wheel, which lets the users do things that are normally impossible with inline skates like long distance jumps and reaching great speed. They are fully customizable to the rider’s needs and wants and each pair carries a small memory card which records performance data which can be accessed via a program called READ. This program can be simply installed on a cell phone and it will read and display the data when pointed at the rider.
The riders have a tendency to form teams, these have different goals, there’s of course recreational riders and the ones who play sports using the ATs but the main focus in the manga are the ones that battle each other to become the best. These teams will challenge other teams in battles which can either be a simple race or more complicated team-games such as throwing discs around and scoring goals but they can also be full on physical fights.
In the streets you might run into Team Stickers, a little logo representing the team who are the ‘owner’ of the region you are in and in which they train. When a team’s sticker is stuck on top of another team’s sticker it means they challenge eachother.
