A/N: Hope you like it, its just the first fairytale, but as the story goes on the more twisted the fairytales become. Had to split the chapter because it was too long...hhhh
When yoochun opened his eyes once again he found himself in yet another castle, he swore out loud and looked around. What the hell had happened? They kissed; they finished the damn fairytale, why weren't they back in their world?
Yoochun looked around, trying to find any sign of the nerd or the damned book that caused them all this rubbish in the first place. He tore the chamber looking for any of them but found nothing. There was nothing out of the usual around him
'Your highness' the door opened suddenly and someone walked in, the young boy stopped suddenly looking around, seeing the torn chamber he swallowed
'Your highness, is everything alright?'
Yoochun looked around at the torn chamber and blinked, how was he to explain this now?
'Are you questioning me?' he hissed. After all, the best defense is a strong offense, right?
The man turned blue and quickly shook his head, apologizing and pleading for forgiveness
'What the hell did you want?' yoochun hissed, feeling a headache coming quickly
'The queen is asking for you' the man bowed once again
'The queen…' yoochun mumbled with a frown. In the previous fairytale he only knew the king, he wondered about the queen.
'Lead the way' yoochun decided and walked out of the bedroom after the man, he looked around at the castle, it was nothing like the first castle, but it was still a very nice castle.
As yoochun walked he looked around him, he saw gloomy faces everywhere and some young soldiers were even giving him weird looks, he didn't know what had happened so a prince would receive such glares, but he shook it off and walked.
As yoochun reached the double doors two guards opened the door at once, a royal announcer announced his presence and he entered. By now yoochun was really, really getting used to being treated like a prince. For the second fairytale now he was treated like a royal prince, heck, he was a royal prince. He always liked being treated like royal and being in the spotlight. But, now, this was a new thing, a total new thing.
'Yoochun, honey' the queen smiled at him from her throne.
Yoochun frowned as he noticed the single throne chair, he saw the queen, his supposed mother, sitting on the crown. But, where was the king's throne? Why wasn't there a king? Was he dead?
'You called for me, mother?' yoochun asked, a hint of annoyance in his voice as he looked at the pretty, mid-aged woman in front of him
'Oh, yes, my dear, yea' the woman nodded. Yoochun noticed that she looked nothing like a queen right now; she looked like a worried woman, a worried mother.
'I… I merely wanted to remind you of your scheduled meetings with the princesses today, you must find a wife among them' the queen smiled, this time something was more defiant in her smile, she looked determined:' and remember, my dear, that if you refuse to chose a bride by the end of the day everything will be lost'
Yoochun frowned, what will be lost? What could this woman be talking about? She couldn't do anything to the prince, could she?
Yoochun looked up at the woman, he noticed something wrong, the queen looked so series and that made yoochun shudder, what the hell will happen if he refused to take a wife by the end of the day?
Yoochun was about to run for it, he wanted just to get away from here, but then he remembered. Like the first fairytale he will have to find the nerd and kiss him to get this over with, and this time, hopefully, they will end up in Hawaii once again, or any place in their normal world.
'Okay… I'll… I'll meet with those… ladies…' yoochun nodded and watched as the woman smiled. Yoochun looked around; the two soldiers standing behind the queen looked shocked, yoochun blinked.
'Good' the queen nodded, agreeing. 'How about you go and prepare…' she began but he cut her short
'I prefer to go outside for a while, I need to compose my thoughts and… and prepare myself…'
'Alright' the queen agreed ' but guards will go with you, in case you tried any trick to get out of this arrangement' the queen took a deep breath ' seventeen new born moons had rose upon the kingdom now, the eighteenth shall rose tomorrow's night, you need to marry and take over the throne. I'm too old to keep ruling this kingdom and our time is up'
'Yes, mother' yoochun gritted his teeth. He just hoped the nerd was one of those dates he must see today. If he was, then he just needs to kiss him and end it…
Kiss him…
Yoochun remembered how nice it was to kiss him; the nerd surely was a great kisser. He was one of the best kisser yoochun ever kissed.
The nerd, yoochun couldn't believe he was even thinking about the nerd. First, he was a man. Second, he was a man. Third, he was the damn nerd! What else did he need?
Yoochun went back to the prince's room, his room, and looked around. The room was as neat and tidy as when he first arrived in it. All the mess was gone, magically gone.
'What now?' he sighed and looked around. It was cold here; yoochun looked out of the window. It was snowing now. Taking a cloak and wrapping it around his shoulder yoochun opened the door and walked out of the room, two guards were standing outside the door, waiting for him
'We shall accompany you to the river, your highness' the guards informed him and without waiting for him to say anything they began walking, yoochun followed.
As yoochun followed, he couldn't but help the feeling that he was more of a prisoner than a prince, everyone was telling him things, no one was taking his orders, he was just a picture, he didn't like it.
They walked out of the castle and then down a dirty trail, it was old stony stairs, half broken and half vanished, mud and snow were covering every inch of the way down the hill and to the frozen river
When they arrived, yoochun looked around him. He was never into nature and all that, but there was something different about this place. The sunlight came through the high trees branches, the half frozen river water glowed as the light reflected upon it, the green grass thickened with the white, soft, snow, but there was still some tiny pink flowers here and there in the grass. It was magical, really magical.
Yoochun sat down on the snow. There was something wrong going on.
'How will you survive this day, your highness?'
One of the two guards had came and sat down beside him, he looked more of a friend than a guard, his tone was gentle and worried
'I don't know…' yoochun sighed ' I'll have to think about something'
'The queen is really angry about the way you managed to get out of the last scheduled meeting; she won't let you get out of this one easily'
'Well, I will have to find out something and get out of this, I don't want a wife' yoochun was getting angry again
'Maybe you could tell the queen you want a male husband than a female' the friend suggested
This took yoochun by surprise. He was gay? No. No. He wasn't gay! He was as straight as there is, the prince was gay. He was straight.
But he was the prince; he was supposed to be gay. Could he be gay? No, yoochun shook his head, he wasn't gay. It was this damn place. It was getting on his last nerve
_______________
Hours seemed to pass; he was still looking at the snowy river when the man beside him touched his shoulder:' we better go back; it's about time, my prince'
Yoochun sighed and stood up; he began walking up the stairs when he noticed it, halfway through the stairs, yoochun noticed the dry bush with the weird looking leafs. Yoochun looked at the bush and smirked, an idea popped into his mind
Looking at the man beside him, his supposed friend, yoochun pointed at the bush and whispered something; the man blinked and nodded his head. As yoochun walked back to the castle with the other guard the friend remained behind, doing as he was told.
As he entered his bedroom, yoochun pleaded to whoever it was that gave him this twisted fate that the nerd will be in between the coming princesses. For the first time in his entire life, yoochun wanted to see the nerd.
Time flew by so quickly that yoochun could've sworn someone had bewitched the clocks on the tower or something. When the guard came into the room to escort him to the meeting yoochun walked grudgingly
The meeting, as it turned out, was one of those huge halls, it was filled with comfortable looking yet elegant looking armchairs and tables. To one wall there were bookshelves that reached from one wall to the other, they were stacked with books and small statues and artifacts
There was no one there yet but for the guards who were all around, standing by every corner, to make sure that he won't escape
Yoochun sighed and walked to the shelves, he didn't really like books but it was better than sitting there and waiting.
It wasn't the first thing yoochun noticed, but he noticed it about ten seconds or so later, on the top shelf in the middle, sitting there innocently and smugly waiting for him.
Yoochun made up his choice at once; he looked at the nearest guard in the hall and ordered:' I want the old, brown leather book on the top shelf in the middle, get it for me'
The guard hesitated for a second, but then he nodded his head and climbed up the shelves to get the book for his prince.
Once the book was in his hands, yoochun took it and quickly opened it; he began to read at once:
Once upon a time, in a far, far away kingdom lived a young prince with his mother and father. Their life was a happy, simple one were the prince always got things his way and no one refused him anything.
Upon coming of age the prince was supposed to marry a fine young maiden and take over the throne. However, things went as wrong as they could. The prince refused to marry the maiden his father chose for him, he announced he would never want to see her again and stormed out of the throne hall
The king, shocked by his son's betrayal and defiance the king fell ill at once. His health became poorer and poorer until one morning on his deathbed he asked for his son
The king ordered his son to get wed to a royal born and take over the throne before eighteen newborn moons rose upon the kingdom, or else the prince would be stripped of his title and the prince's cousin shall take over the throne.
The cousin who was known to be an evil sorcerer was banished out of the kingdom long ago by the king himself, and now it looked as if he sought revenge. Wanting to assure that the throne goes to him he secretly bestowed a curse upon the kingdom and the prince, the prince was to find no princess pretty and appealing, and so wasn't to marry any of them. The prince refused to tell any soul upon the curse, but for his trusted friend.
Time passed on, a month by a month the moon rose upon the kingdom and the prince still refused all the princesses whom he met. The queen tried to gather princesses from all the kingdoms, near and far, but her son still refused to look at them
Finally, the queen's patience ran out, she issued a law that none in the kingdom is to marry before the prince finds himself a suitable bride. The law warned the prince a lot of enemies, even among the royal court itself
The prince, who found a way to get out of every meeting with a bride, because of a different excuse was running out of reasons and the queen insisted that…
The door opened, yoochun closed the book with a slam and looked. Ten princesses walked into the hall, all dressed to impress, but none managing it, yoochun took one look at them and looked away, he didn't know if it was him or if it was the curse, but he couldn't even look at them, they were ugly!
Sitting down to the table around him, the women began to flirt and chat, yoochun listened with a bored expression on his face, he hated this so much, arranged dates, he hated it in any world.
The doors opened once again, the same soldier walked in, he looked at yoochun with an assuring look and walked closer, he whispered something and handed him a small sack without anyone seeing. It was a velvet sack filled with the powder yoochun knew very well
Now, looking at the soldier, yoochun didn't know why but he knew the man's name, yunho, he was his friend, for a long time now, the man was his friend, and he alone knew of his secret.
Jaejoong bowed and went back to the corner to guard, yoochun, with the sack hidden in his palm stood up and made a show of going to pour himself some water.
A guard rushed forward to serve the prince some water, and without anyone noticing he poured the content of the sack into the pitcher and turned to the ladies
'Could I offer you some water? I'm sure your throats are dry by now from all the chatting' yoochun insulted them with a velvet smile on his face. He poured himself a goblet but didn't dare bring it to his lips
As the princess nodded a smile in place on their faces and a smug look in their eyes, Yoochun looked at the guard and signaled him to come over and pour the women some water. The guard did just as ordered.
The princesses, thirsty from all the talking they've done so far, drank the water at once. Yoochun sat back down, a smirk on his face; he looked up at Yunho, caught his eyes for a second and nodded softly, the guard nodded back. Now, all they had to do was wait.
Ten minute, or maybe five, passed before the first princess began to cough and rushed out of the hall without a word said. A few second after another bunch of princesses covered their mouths and rushed out of the hall. One princess wasn't lucky enough to rush out and vomited in front of yoochun on the ground
Yoochun covered his own mouth and pointed to the guards to take the woman away, he rushed out of the hall with the book in his hands. It was around sunset now.
_______________
Yoochun was in his bedroom; he declined dinner and was going through the book once again, what was this fairytale? How could he end it? The nerd wasn't among the princesses and he's nowhere in sight, his mother won't let him anywhere out of the castle and if he's not married by tomorrow's night then his cousin, whoever he was, is to take the throne.
What is to happen if he lost the throne? Yoochun thought. He won't finish the fairytale, so he won't get out of it…wait, will he be stuck here forever? This can't happen. The nerd, yea sure, he might even like it, being trapped in one of his oh-so-loved fairytales. But, he's got a life; he's got a bunch of hot girls waiting for him and a lot of money to spend, beside technology and magic-free world.
Yoochun shivered at the idea of being stuck here, he felt helpless, he felt stuck and he couldn't handle the feeling.
The doors opened and the queen walked in a sever look on her face with a dozen men behind her, the royal council, yoochun knew:' you fought your way out of the meeting with tricks and pranks; you've doomed us all with your foolishness!'
'I've done no such thing!' yoochun insisted ' I can't choose a bride this way, mother; I can't stand to lay an eye on them, let alone spend my life with them!' yoochun yelled for the entire castle to hear
The queen was about to yell some more but yoochun rushed out of the room, ignoring all and heading back with the book to the hall where he found it
'Your majesty, if I may speak' a guard walked to the queen and bowed
'Who are you to dare and speak to our queen?' one of the council members hissed, Lord Changmin. Yunho knew the fiery man very well; he was an army man, the captain of the knights.
'He's the prince's friend' another answered ' we should hear what've got to say before judging him' Lord Jaejoong rushed to his defense, Yunho knew the man as well, he was more of a peace man than an army man. The complete opposite from Lord Changmin, yunho noticed.
'Speak your mind, soldier' the queen sighed ' if you're to shed some light on what's going on, then you shall be of a great help to us'
Yunho bowed and spoke:' it just happens, your majesty, that when the sorcerer found out about the late king's death wish he bestowed a curse upon the prince so he shall not desire any maiden or lady…'
A wave of curses and questions roared between the council members, but the queen raised a hand and silenced them all. Yunho went on:' I'm afraid, your majesty, that the only way to get the prince to chose a bride, is to allow him to choose from male princes, and not princesses'
'But out time ends tomorrow's night. We have no time to gather around a group of royal princes for his highness to choose from' one council member spoke up. Lord Kibum was another wise man, and shockingly enough he was Lord Changmin's spouse
Thunder roared outside the castle and the storm raged on and on.
'It shall be a tough night' the queen whispered looking outside ' Yoochun hates stormy nights when there is no stars in the sky…'
'Your majesty, there is a young man in the entrance, he wishes to speak to you' a guard bowed and informed her
The queen blinked but walked with the guard to the entrance hall, everyone gathered around her for protection.
Yoochun saw the scene from afar as he was trying to find his way back to the hall he was in before; he followed them closely, wondering what's going on.
Reaching the entrance hall everyone gasped at the young man before their eyes. He was soaking wet, his cloth and clock were mud covered and torn in some places. He looked like he had been thought a great ordeal. But still, and even with all the mud and the tiredness nothing could hide his beauty, the snowy white skin, the dark orbs and the silky hair, the pink cheeks and the red lip and the slender body, everything looked so perfect in him
Yoochun looked at the new comer, his eyes widened and his jaw dropped down, it was him. There was no doubt that the man in front of him; in the soaking clothes was no other than the nerd! But, gosh, didn't he look good all wet and soaking
'Your majesty…' he began and yoochun listened, unable to take his eyes off him
'I was on my way back to my father's kingdom when thieves attacked our parade and killed my soldiers. But, I am a royal prince and I seek to trespass on your hospitality for the night as I can send my father a messenger in the morning, informing him of my whereabouts'
The queen thought about this and was about to speak when Lord Kibum bowed and whispered something in her ear. She turned to look at her own son and then at the newcomer, the two of them had been holding an eye contact for a few minutes now
The woman smiled, and then she frowned. 'And how are we to know that you're saying the truth about your royal background?'
'My father will be more than happy to confirm my words, your majesty.' The young man bowed, he looked briefly upon the queen before his eyes went to look upon the prince
'We shall put him through a test, your majesty; if he's a royal then he shall pass the test' Lord Jaejoong spoke and the queen nodded
'And what's your name, son?' the queen asked
'Junsu, my queen' the newcomer smiled ' prince of the north kingdom'
The queen nodded as if satisfied by the answer
'We shall prepare the east bedchamber for the guest, my queen' Lord Jaejoong smiled and with the other council members vanished into the depth of the castle
Both junsu and yoochun looked worried, what test was this man speaking off? What shall he do?
'Meanwhile, I shall keep him company' yoochun suggested and ushered junsu away from everyone quickly so they could talk
Once alone in a hall yoochun turned to junsu and hissed:' okay, which freaky fairytale is this?'
'I have no idea. I found myself in a courage dragged by horses, someone yelled and we were under attack. They killed everyone but me, I managed to escape, they were calling for me, saying it's time to die, your highness and this sort of things. But I fought my way through the storm and here I am'
'Okay, maybe this will help' yoochun frowned and began telling junsu what happened with him. Junsu frowned; he couldn't remember any fairytale like this
'I can't remember anything with an evil sorcerer for a cousin, but fairytales change. There are a lot of versions of each fairytale so I'm not sure'
'Great. So let's finish this already, we kiss and it's done with, right?' yoochun hissed and came closer. He wanted to kiss the nerd for two reasons: first, the nerd looked so damn good while wet, his lips were so pink from the cold and they looked inviting, this was a reason which he wasn't allowing himself to admit. Second, he had to kiss the nerd to end this mess, right? This was the reason, the only reason, he convinced himself to which he wants to kiss the nerd.
'I don't think it will work yet' junsu frowned ' we must finish the fairytale first, which means passing this test'
'What will the test be?' yoochun frowned
'I don't know, why are you asking me?'
'Well, you're the fairytale expert, aren't you?' yoochun hissed, half mocking
Junsu blushed a darker shade of pink, but he wasn't going to admit this
'But I don't know all the fairytales there is and I don't really know what the test is, we must wait till tomorrow to find out' junsu frowned
'But if you fail this test, we will be stuck here for good, won't we?'
Junsu nodded:' and it gets worse. If we die here, I think we die in the real world as well'
Yoochun looked at him, shocked.
The two looked at each other, not noticing the dark gloomy shadow in the corner of the room listening in on their conversation with a brown leather book in his hands. The shadow smirked and vanished, he shall make sure this test in un-passable
_______________
The council members found themselves wondering on what kind of test to put the newcomer through. It was obvious the prince liked him, or at least was interested in him, so that problem was down, the only thing they needed to work on was how to make sure he's royal before tomorrow's night. A messenger won't be quick enough and they must hold the wedding tomorrow if the newcomer is indeed a royal prince
'What test shall we decide upon?' the queen sighed
A dark shadow appeared in the corner, unnoticed by any of them. He whispered something, clenching the book tightly to his chest. The invisible wind carried his hushed words to everyone ears and they all became dazed for a second before they went back to their usual selves
'So it's decided then' the queen went on as if nothing happened ' prepare it right away'
Everyone bowed and rushed to prepare the test at once.
The queen herself went to the kitchen and looked at the peas, choosing the tiniest one could find. One so small that no one will ever feel it under his pillow, let alone under twenty mattresses.
And so it was about an hour later that everything was ready and junsu was led to the bedchamber which he was to sleep in tonight. He had bathed in hot water, ate a warm dinner and was now dressed in silky pajamas and so sleepy, he just wanted to sleep.
Entering the chamber junsu noticed the bed. It was so high that there was a long ladder beside it to climb up; there were twenty mattresses on the bed
'It's a tradition for guests to sleep on high beds' one of the men explained and junsu shrugged, he was too tired to care. He climbed up to his bed and lay down; he needed to sleep to be ready for the test tomorrow.
_______________
Everyone was gathered together for breakfast, all with worried faces. They all realized what have happened like if waking up from a nightmare or something, they all knew that something had happened to them last night to set up such a test, but the test was set and there was no way to ignore it right now. They just prayed that the newcomer had passed the un-passable test, they hoped against hope…
'So dear, how was your sleep last night?' the queen asked her son as breakfast was served
'Fine, thank you mother' yoochun frowned. He couldn't tell her he had troubles sleeping because he was too worried about being stuck in this world
'And you, my dear?' she looked at junsu. At once everyone held back their breaths, they knew it was impossible, yet they still prayed for a miracle
'He's ready for the test' yoochun answered for him ' if that' what you want to know'
'I merely asked how his sleep was' the queen frowned slightly
'And, your highness, the test is already done' Lord Changmin informed them
Both men's eyes widened in shock at the news, yoochun looked at everyone before looking at the queen once again:' what? What was the test? Did he pass?'
'It remains to be seen soon, my dear. If you pass, then you shall be my son's bride. Now, how was your sleep, son?' the queen asked again
Junsu was a little shocked, a little scared and a little horror filled, he didn't really know what to do so he spoke the truth:' not so well, your majesty, I think there's something wrong with the mattresses, because I felt a rock in it, it nearly broke my back in half and I couldn't sleep for a second' junsu spoke and covered a yawn as he did so
The queen's shock and happiness was mirrored everywhere across the table. The boy passed the un-passable test, he was of royal blood, the wedding was to be held and they shall be saved!
'NO!!!' the voice roared from the nothingness. The cloaked man appeared in front of them, out of nowhere, and he went straight to junsu, as if trying to kill him
'THIS IS MY KINGDOM! MINE!! YOU SHALL DIE AND BE STUCK IN THIS WORLD FOR GOOD!!' his yell was so high it hurt everyone's ears.
As the man was about to reach junsu and grab him by the throat suffocating him, yoochun reacted. Reaching for the sword on his side he launched at the man. A part of being the son of a rich man is that you must obtain certain skills, like fencing, which turned out to be helping now
Yoochun threw himself in front of junsu and with the sword he stabbed the man as he tried to curse the nerd. Black, ink like, blood oozed out of the man's chest where yoochun had sheathed his sword and he dropped to his knees
'WE SHALL NEEVR BE KILLED! WE SHALL KILL YOU AND USE YOUR BODIES TO ESCAPE THIS WRITTEN WORLD! THIS ISN'T OVER …Y…YET…!' and with that he dropped on the floor, dead, ink oozing out of him, erasing him by the second.
Yoochun and junsu looked at each other, trying to take in the meaning of the man's words, but they were too shocked to do so.
'Prepare for the wedding at once and remove this sorcerer's body out of my sight! He' not welcomed into this kingdom! And after today everyone is free to marry, now the prince had found himself a bride' the queen ordered
Junsu looked at everything, he looked at yoochun and at the queen, as her words sank in his eyes widened and he whispered:' the princess and the pea!'
'What?' yoochun blinked
'The fairytale, it's the princess and the pea!' junsu repeated and at once they both noticed the old, brown leather book which was brought by yoochun and laid on the table glow, they did it…well, almost…
'So…' yoochun finally asked when his mind was able to think again, he wanted to finish this before he thinks about the man's words and how did he find out about them ' now we kiss and seal this one?'
Junsu blushed but nodded. Yoochun leant in and joined their lips together. As they kissed and forgot everything about the world around them they missed the way the entire room twisted around them and turned black… they drifted apart, again…
