_______________

Yoochun didn't waste any time, he was on his horse with five knights and as the torches in the knight's hands lit the night they set out to search and rescue junsu, he wasn’t dead, yoochun was sure of it, junsu was alive, he just needed to find him and bring him home with him for everything to be alright

'Your highness…' someone called for him, but yoochun couldn't care less, he had to find junsu. He had to.

They arrived at the scene soon, it was more than horrible, it was worse than words could describe. The scent of blood and the presence of death lingered around the dead bodies, the wide, empty eyes looking upwards in utter horror and mouths opened wide in silent scream. Everyone was there, the king, the guards, they all were there, all dead, all but for junsu.

'He's not here' yoochun whispered to himself more than to anyone, reassuring himself that as long as there was no dead body there was still some hope left, and he will cling to that hope till the bitter end!

'We shall search everywhere for the prince, we must find him!' the order was dull, his voice was slightly shaken, his skin was paler than normal, but no one noticed, or if they did, no one said anything about it.

_______________
They searched the entire night till dawn but all in vain, they found no clue about the prince's whereabouts or a body to pronounce him dead. He was just gone, as if he vanished into thin air or something.

'Your highness, we must head back' one knight whispered gently

'You're free to go if you please, I'm remaining to search'

The five knights looked at each other, they were all worried, the prince was acting really strange, he was acting strange, the usual full-of-himself, stuck-up, snob, bastard of a prince they had was actually worried about someone beside himself, they all could see the fear and the worry in his eyes as he searched restlessly all night long, the man had changed too much in a few hours, it was as if he was someone else, someone more mature and grown up, someone who's more fitted to be their future king than that old version of himself.

That was why they swallowed their protests and kept on searching with the prince, looking in the bushes, under the rocks and up the trees, they left nowhere without looking till the sun was high up in the sky, it was midday already and they really needed some food and rest.

'Your highness, we should rest and eat, we will carry on searching after it, we won't be any good for the prince when we find him if we're all dead on our legs' the same knight who spoke before spoke again, somehow knowing the right words to make the stubborn prince agree to rest for a while.

'One hour' yoochun declared and sat down on the grass; the poor horse almost collapsed from the tiredness, and began eating some grass, ignoring his master who was still looking around him while sitting, trying to scan the area with his eyes and search for junsu, hoping against hope to find him somewhere near, healthy and miraculously safe.

_______________
Junsu had managed to hide the entire night as a swan, keeping away from the crazy man, when the sun rose into the sky he knew he would have to act, he needed to find yoochun; he needed to make him believe that he's the same junsu, but how?

Something glittered at the bottom of the lake as the sunrays reflected on the water and junsu narrowed his black swan eyes and looked, something was glittering at the bottom of the lake. With a quick move he dove inside and swam to the thing, with his peck he picked it up and rose to the surface once again, swimming to the edge of the lake he gently placed whatever was in his peck onto the grass and looked at it.

The glittering thing was a piece of broken glass.

Angry, junsu threw the thing away with his peck and watched as it fell onto the wet dirt on the bank, the sharp glass edge slashing through the dirt as it fell, and an idea popped into his mind, maybe it wasn't hopeless after all.

Taking the piece of glass in his peck once again, junsu flew away, hoping to find yoochun quickly, from not far behind he could hear a sharp, evil laugh as he capturer watched him fly, the man was sure he will fail to escape and come back at night to be turned human again, but junsu won't be coming back, not if it meant that he must spend the night with that... that… thing!

He flew all morning, looking everywhere. He tried to go back the path he knew or he thought the evil warlock brought him through and when the sun was so high in the sky and his wings were too sore to answer him and fly he was forced to land, he would have to rest for a while before he flew toward the castle once again.

_______________

Yoochun was not going to wait any longer; the knights had hunted down a couple of rabbits and were grilling them on some campfire waiting for it to cook before eating them - they were still complaining on how little food they had - he was not hungry, he was too restless to sit down any longer so he simply picked himself up and decided to walk around for a while, walking through the thick trees he came upon a small clearing not far from their spot.

There was a while swan resting on the grass all alone, as yoochun walked he decided that this could perhaps be enough for those idiot knights to stop complaining all the time.

Walking slowly toward the swan, ready to jump and catch it, yoochun stepped on a dry rote that snapped underneath his foot, the swan snapped its head up from underneath its wing and looked at him, but instead of fleeing it just stared at him, as if shocked or something.

Yoochun walked closer, careful not to make the swan escape, but then he stood frozen when he saw the swan reach for a sharp piece of glass which was near it and hold it in its peck, the swan soon bent its head toward the dirt and grass and began slashing the piece of glass into the ground, as if writing something.

Yoochun stood frozen for a minute, shocked, and then he walked closer and tried to read whatever the swan was writing. One letter after the other, the massage became clear:

I JUNSU

Yoochun blinked a couple of times, but the carving was still there and the swan was still there, it was real

'Bloody hell' yoochun swore under his breath, this was insane! But again, everything about this world was insane, and if he could be turned into a frog, then why not into a swan as well? DAMN!

'You're junsu' it wasn't a question, yoochun already knew the answer, but the swan nodded its head anyway

'Bloody hell, what happened to you?'

Junsu glared at yoochun as if he was an idiot but didn't answer, how could he answer?

'Right' yoochun almost hit his head against the nearest tree ' you're a bloody swan, you can't answer'

Junsu nodded again as if saying: duh

'How are we going to solve this?' yoochun mumbled to himself, eyeing swan-junsu all the time ' a kiss, perhaps?'

Junsu shook his head a little as a no and yoochun sighed in defeat. Of course, this would be too easy; the same trick won't work twice.

'You've been cursed… somehow…or…how did you become like this, damn it!'

The swan looked at yoochun for a long while before it finally made a move; it turned around and began walking through the trees, away from yoochun

'Wait!' yoochun hissed at once, not wanting to lose the boy-swan when he just found him and sure as hell he wasn't going to lose him!

Swan- junsu didn't stop, and soon yoochun didn't have any other choice but to rush after him, sneaking back to take his horse without the knights knowing as they were busy eating, he went back to swan-junsu to go with the little swan to wherever it wanted him to go.

_______________

The ride back home was much easier with a fast horse; swan-junsu was tucked safely under yoochun's hand as they rode, the swan only used its wing every now and then to point out direction to the prince.

It wasn't until night time that they reached the warlock's forest; the horse was so tired that yoochun had to leave it behind and continue the journey on foot while following swan-junsu.

Worried, frightened, scared, horrified, petrified, alarmed, terrors trucked…etc.

Those were the right words to describe what junsu was feeling while leading yoochun to the lake. What if the warlock was there? What if he killed yoochun? What if it turned out to be a trap or something? What if he was leading yoochun to his death? What if he was leading them both to their death?

As they neared the castle and the lake, junsu could see lights shining bright in one of the towers, the warlock was practicing his magic there; they were safe for now.

Looking up at the sky he could see the moon's reflection upon the lake, the crystal clear water shining brightly with the silver light. With his heart beating so fast junsu left yoochun on the bank and walked to the water, slowly, very slowly, he swam till the middle of the lake where the moon's reflection was, when his tiny body touched the moon's reflection upon the water, water rose as a one long column and with a flash of a bright light junsu's body began to transform while contained within the water column into its human form. When the water column fell down again there was human junsu floating in the lake

Junsu swam back to the bank and with the help of the amazed yoochun he got out of the water.

At once, yoochun wrapped his clock around the shivering shoulders and held him tightly. He was there, human, in front of him, he was okay, and it shall be okay now.

'We need to talk, and quickly, we don't have much time; junsu whispered so gently it was barely inaudible

Yoochun blinked, he was too amazed with how pretty junsu looked while wet and shivering in his arms to focus on anything else right now, this man was deemed to be pretty and not handsome, he was so pretty it was unnerving, and yet he never acted like he was better than anyone else, he was so modest, while he… he had made a lot of mistakes in his life, he had a lot to fix and redeem for when they were able to go back to their own world.

'He could come any second, we need to hurry!' junsu hissed again

Yoochun blinked, and for the first time he recognized the fear and worry in the younger man's voice and tried to concentrate, he will have enough time to ravish the man when they were back to reality, right now they have to finish this fairytale and any information on how to do it would be highly appreciated.

'He killed my father… the king… he wants to force me to marry him to rule my kingdom, he wants power and he's crazy…' junsu began, whispering quietly but quickly

'How is he? I'll slaughter him for you!' yoochun hissed angrily, he too was whispering

'A warlock' junsu kept looking around, trying to make sure they were unheard ' he's got magical powers and he was the one who turned me into a swan. I'm only back to my human form if I could touch this lake's water while the moon reflected upon it…'

'What can I do?' yoochun asked, super serious, as he knew junsu must've had a plan or something.

'You must declare…. Your….your eternal love…to…. to me in front of everyone… like in the…book…in a ball…in a few days…before the week is done…only then…' junsu was struggling to talk, it was as if an unknown powers were holding him back from talking about this

'I can throw a masquerade ball in two nights, you can come to the castle and I shall declare my undying love to you in front of everyone, and then this warlock or whoever he was would be done for' yoochun was so confident

Junsu nodded, swallowing, he didn't want this end to be like the one in the book, he really hoped it won't.

'What's wrong?' yoochun noticed his worried looks

'Just… just remember, what your eyes can't see, your heart can' junsu whispered ' trust your heart above all others, above your senses and mind, and follow it, it shall never lie to you or mislead you'

Yoochun frowned, this was the second time junsu was giving him this warning, something was wrong.

'You must go now…' junsu whispered, the lights were dimmed now in the tower, soon the warlock will finish his whatever practice he was doing and shall come for him

'I'm leaving my horse… use it to come to the castle in two nights…I shall wait for you'

Junsu only nodded his head once, indicating he understood

Leaning in quickly yoochun kissed junsu's lips once, a sweet kiss that burned for long after their lips parted

Without a second glance yoochun walked away. He knew if he looked back he won't be able to leave, he knew he would rush back to junsu and never leave him again, but he couldn't do that, he needed to the exit of the warlock's forest and to the knights. He had a ball to plan and he was short on time.

Without his horse it took yoochun almost till late at night to reach back the spot where the knights were, more than once he took a wrong turn and ended up going in circles till he found the right way.

_______________

Junsu hid for the rest of the night, he knew if the warlock found him the night would end up badly, he knew he was going to be forced into bed with the warlock and he would die before he do this, never.

The long, lonely and cold night passed ever so slowly, the only thing he had to keep him warm was yoochun's clock with he wrapped so tightly around himself that he almost tore it apart.

The dim lights within the castle told him the warlock was up, it was as if he was torturing him, making him so scared that he couldn't sleep, waiting for the worst to happen, while he didn't give a damn.

When the long night finally came to an end and the first rays of sunlight lit the ink black sky junsu sighed in relief, for once he was happy to be a swan, he would be safe from the warlock's attempts all day long now; he would be safe for now. He would be able to sleep and rest.

A few minutes passed before junsu turned back to his swan form and swam till the middle of the lake, floating gently with the water he tucked his head under his wing and slept, dead tired both emotionally and physically.

The warlock looked out of the tower's window and smirked, an evil smirk which prophesized no good. No good at all.

_______________

Yoochun spent the day demanding everyone in the castle. Invitations were sent, the ballroom were being prepared and the food was being cooked, all so quickly so it would be done in the two days noticed they've got.

The ball's idea was so sudden that it shocked them all, it was just after two days, balls were prepared two weeks in advantage at least. Everyone knew there would be something big going on in two days; something was going to happen in this ball, something really important. So, of course, like in any other castle, rumors filled the place and even the walls begun whispering about the ball; some said the prince was going to be crowned a king, some said he was going to announce his marriage, some said he wanted to give up the crown, and some went as far as to say he wanted to celebrate prince junsu's death… yoochun had to restrain himself from lashing at all those idiots who spoke ill of him and junsu.

Two days passed so quickly in the castle, everyone was busy working and gossiping for anything else, the ballroom was finally fixed and prepared, filled with fresh white roses and golden chandeliers, yoochun approved it at once. The food menu though was a problem; the head chef had prepared stuffed swans for the main dish, a dish which was as bad as committing murder in yoochun eyes right now, he didn't only refuse it, he ordered that there shall not remain any imprisoned swans in the castle, dead or alive, the castle was to be swan-free before the ball, something which took extra time to carry out, as the royal lakes were filled with swans.

_______________
For junsu, those couple of days couldn't be worse. He not only didn't touch the water at night as for not to be turned human, he had the strangest feeling that the warlock was preparing for something huge, something which he wouldn't like, and so he couldn't help but agonize about the fact that there is a good chance that he could've overheard him and yoochun deciding upon their plan. If he did, it was over.

The first day just spent most of asleep; he was too tired from all the traveling he did the day before that he slept all day long. At night he got out of the water as not to be accidently turned human and kept on the bank, sitting quietly and watching the water.

That day he didn't see the warlock.

The second day, the day of the ball, junsu was even more worried he was shivering even as a swan. The warlock was everywhere that day; he was all around him, eyeing him and humming gently, the evil smirk still firm on his lips.

When night finally came, the warlock moved, finally, and began to chant in an odd language that junsu couldn't understand. But as he did so the reflection of the moon vanished from the water, and junsu, who was halfway swimming to the said reflection was shocked, he turned to look at the sky and froze.

There was nothing but darkness…

…Ink black darkness everywhere…

…There was no moon, nor were there any stars…

…It was total darkness…

'Now, now, my prince… you didn't think you could succeed with your little plan, now, did you?'

Junsu swallowed, he didn't like this

'Oh, but don't worry. You shall be going to the ball, but not exactly you… you see… in the royal laws if a prince declares his love for another in a royal ball, one as the one he's holding tonight, it would be as a bonding contract, a marriage, between the prince and the other person…'

Junsu's eyes turned so big that the swan looked scary and ill

'So tonight I shall be his husband, and when he… meets an unfortunate accident… soon, very soon… I shall rule his land… and yours as well… I shall be undefeatable'

Junsu knew what was to happen next, he had known it because it was how the fairytale went on, he had to stop this.

'Oh, but there is nothing you can do to stop it, you can do nothing in your swan form, it's over!'

With that the warlock mumbled something else, his skin glowed for a second and then junsu gasped to see he was looking at himself, in his human form, but it was him, it was completely him, but it wasn't.

'Goodbye, pet. I shall be back tomorrow's night to claim my gift, your body shall wait for me till tomorrow's night to take it, right now I've got other important things to take care of'

With that the warlock turned into thin air and vanished with a cloud of black smoke

Junsu felt his vision blur as tears trailed down his feathery face, the swan was crying. He was dead now, it was over.

No, a small voice in his mind spoke, it's not over till the end, he could still save the day...err… the night

Deciding he had nothing else to lose junsu spread his wing and flew to the castle.

_______________

The ball was downright boring. Yoochun decided. He was still not here and he was so worried, waiting, hoping it will end well, it had to, it had to end well…

It was almost ten in the evening when he entered through the double doors leading to the room; he was wearing all black with a single feathery white mask hiding the upper half of his face. He looked utterly beautiful

Walking to him yoochun's grin was so big. He bowed his head a little and took the other's hand, leading him to the dance floor at once. The smile faltered a little, there was something wrong. Junsu's always warm hand was ice cold now, the look in his eyes was different as well, it was harder and colder, it was weird to see this look in his eyes.

But it was junsu, he looked the same, smelled the same and acted the same, it was junsu for sure, he was just nervous, for sure, not that he could blame him or anything.

As they danced junsu kept a grin on his lips, a grin that made yoochun feel so uneasy, he never saw junsu grin like this; it was evil and the I-AM-SO-SMART-AND-EVERYTHING-IS-GOING-ACCURDING-TO-MY-PLAN grin. Junsu never used this kind of grin before.

The first dance came to an end, so did the second and the third and the forth… yoochun was still dancing with the masked junsu, he knew that he had to make the announcement soon, before the party began he had decided on making the announcement the second junsu arrives and so they could finish this fairytale as soon as possible, but now… now, something wasn't right, it didn't fit. Something was wrong with this junsu.

'How about we get something to eat, you must be hungry from riding all the way here, and then we can announce our news to everyone' yoochun suggested after a while.

Junsu only grinned wider and nodded his head; it was just so easy…

They got seated at the royal table, exactly at the head, beside the queen's chair. When everyone else was seated seconds after, dinner was served.

Yoochun didn't eat much as he was looking at junsu most of the time, watching him as he ate. He needed to find out why junsu felt so strange to him, why he felt so cold. Suddenly, yoochun noticed something; junsu had reached for his goblet of wine and held it with only two fingers, like the royals always do. It was an old custom that basically was because the only one who touched the goblet before them would be the servant who served it, so because they didn't want to touch what a servant had touched, they held the goblet with only two fingers. The custom was too old and too snobby for yoochun's taste let alone innocent junsu's.

_______________

Junsu flew so fast and without a stop, he could feel his wings muscles yelling their protest to him, but he didn't care. If he didn't reach there in time, if yoochun declared his love for the warlock instead of him, then it would be over. All shall be lost.

It was just an hour before midnight when he finally reached the castle, he rushed to the search for any open doors or windows, he needed to get in, he needed to fins yoochun, he had to warn him.

It was just as he was about to fly through the main gate when a guard saw him

'Catch the swan!!' someone yelled and suddenly guards were all around him, chasing him, trying to catch him and most likely cook him or something. Flying high above them junsu flew to the upper levels windows, searching for an opened one for him to get in through.

His wings were so tired, flying higher and higher up was taking him so much energy, his vision was getting blurry, he needed to land, he needed to…

Startled, junsu's swan eyes opened as their widest. There was the sound of a loud crush and shooting pain shot through his entire body, looking around he noticed the broken colored glass all around him, some were stained with red liquid, his blood, he was bleeding from crashing into a window.

He could hear the guard rushing toward him; they've heard the noise for sure. But, he couldn't get caught, not now, not when he was so close already, he had to find him, he had to escape those guards.

As the footsteps grew nearer and louder, junsu reached behind an armor suit which was standing against the wall, and hid behind it waiting for the humans to be gone

As he waited junsu could only feel the pain in his body increase, he was still bleeding and the flight till the castle had exhausted him, he was too tired and weak, but he needed to go on, he needed to do this in order to survive. So, sneaking quietly behind the guards junsu walked to the first level, hiding behind armor suits and statues all the times as for not to be seen. He was on the first level now, he just needed to find the right ballroom and all shall be well, or so he hoped.

'There you are! You little damn bird!'

Junsu looked at the angry guard and rushed away from him, unable to fly with his injured wings, he had to run away from him on foot.

_______________

It was already midnight, soon the party shall be over, he needed to make the announcement already; he knew he had to.

Looking at junsu beside him he felt this coldness filling him again, what was the reason for this? Why did this feel so wrong all of a sudden?

'I need to get some air, I will be right back and then I shall make the announcement to everyone' yoochun smiled gently to junsu and walked toward the balcony for some fresh air, junsu right beside him as were some other nobles whose names he didn't care to remember.

The fresh air was amazing, washing the stiffness of the ballroom; he had always hated formal balls. Junsu was busy chatting with the nobles around him, almost flirting; yoochun didn't like this as well. This wasn't typical junsu.

Smiling gently yoochun raised his eyes to the sky just quickly, there were no stars, but nor was the moon there. Nothing, the ink black sky was so dark.

Yoochun looked back at junsu again, and remembered. Junsu only could turn human when the moon reflection on the lake touched his swan form.  But, there was no moon tonight, and yet junsu was here, right beside him.

'I need a drink' yoochun mumbled more to himself than to anyone else and walked to a nearby servant who was chatting to a guard, he was about to order a drink when he heard them talking

'…But it broke through the third floor's window, it must be injured and dead somewhere'

'A swan breaking into the castle…? Something must be going on'

'I know, the other guards are following it, searching everywhere for it' the guard whispered gently. Seeing the prince standing nearby he stood firmly and went quiet.

Yoochun eyed the two; a million thought going through his mind at once; the moonless sky, the swan, the coldness, the weird behavior, the warlock, junsu's words for him… suddenly, everything made sense.

'Find the swan; no one is to hurt it. Bring it to my rooms and leave it on the bed, get someone to treat its injured, I want it alive and well. Got me?' yoochun hissed quietly to the guard

The man only nodded

'No one is to know about the swan. Keep it a secret'

The man nodded again and rushed away to carry out the order. Yoochun smiled and walked back to the group, his hand on the handle of his sword attached to his left side.

'Shall we go back in?' he smiled gently and everyone walked back into the ballroom. As they did, yoochun took junsu's hand and led him to the middle of the room

'I've got an announcement to make…'

_______________

Junsu sneaked beneath the tablecloth and watched the ballroom looking for yoochun, his entire body was injured and hurting like crazy, but he was fighting it still.

Junsu watched as yoochun took the warlock's hand and led him to the middle of the room

'I've got an announcement to make…' yoochun began

Junsu shook his swan head, praying to god that yoochun would stop, that he won't say the words

No, please no, don't do this… no… god no…junsu pleaded over and over in his mind…

_______________

'I would like to thank you all for coming to this ball, and I would like to announce my love in front of you all to the one who shall be at my side for the rest of our lives, to the one who stole my heart…' yoochun smiled at junsu who grinned back

_______________
Swan-junsu was shaking all over, it was over now, it was going to end, he had lost…

_______________

'…I would like you all to be my witnesses as I declare my love to…'

_______________

Junsu closed his eyes, what was the point of hearing this? Fate was so cruel!

_______________

'…My lover, junsu…'

The warlock's grin was so wide, he opened his lips to talk, but yoochun beat him to it going on with his speech

'…Who is now stuck in his swan form somewhere in this castle…To him, I declare my undying love!'

Yoochun's smirk was pure evil as he eyed the man beside him whose face twisted in pure rage and hatred.

A strangled cry was heard from somewhere in the room and one of the table was send flying to the other wall, underneath it was a blinding light which forced everyone to close their eyes. Yoochun ignored the light and rushed to junsu's side, holding him tightly in his arms.

When the light vanished an injured junsu was gathered in yoochun's loving arms, he looked weak and was bleeding, unlike the other image of him while was screaming bloody murder at everyone.

'NO!' the warlock yelled, switching back to his original form ' YOU SHALL DIE! IDIOT PRINCE! YOU CAN'T HAVE WHAT'S MINE!'

Yoochun was up on his legs in a flash, his sword in his hand. He launched toward the warlock in a second and soon he was dodging spells and curses while trying to attack with his sword. It was a good thing he was a good swordsman for he surely needed it now.

Seeing a chance yoochun took it and quickly sank his sword into the warlock's side, burying it deeply into the man's body.

The yell was defining as the warlock exploded with different lights. He was over, dead, gone.

Yoochun grinned and rushed to junsu, gathering him in his arms and reaching down to kiss his lips gently:' I will take care of you, rest now, it will be fine'

Junsu nodded weakly and kissed yoochun back, gently and sweetly, loving every second of it. Loving the fact that yoochun didn't fall for the warlock's trap, loving the fact that they were alive, loving the fact that they were kissing.

Just when their tongues joined together in a heated kiss blackness took over, surrounding them and zapping them apart, to a new fairytale.

As they were zapped away they missed the white light fighting against the darkness which was trying to charge at them, trying to hurt them. ..
