Nightfall brought upon the third party with it, yoochun took junsu's hand in his the second he arrived and pulled him to the balcony. Another night they spent talking, dancing and kissing each other.
'You look amazing' yoochun whispered into junsu's ear, licking it and nibbling on the earlobe while at it.
'You're rather handsome yourself' junsu mumbled, pink in the cheeks
A wicked grin spread on yoochun's lips, would it be forbidden to take his little lover-boy to his bedroom and chain him to the bed right now and never let him go?
Junsu, unable to take the heat anymore decided to focus on something else; he noticed the bracelet on yoochun's hand, the one his grandfather gave him. He remembered it still.
Reaching his delicate fingers junsu began playing with the bracelet, he hummed gently while playing with it. Yoochun watched him play with it, his small fingers touching his wrist every now and then. On junsu's middle finger was a simple ring, golden band with a single onyx jewel in its middle. It was very simple, yet very nice, just like its owner himself.
'It's the last ball tonight' yoochun whispered, sadly
Junsu nodded
'How will I find you after tonight?' yoochun pleaded, he needed any clue, anything, on how to find the younger boy
Junsu fought hard against himself, rocking his mind hard to try and help yoochun find him without telling him exactly how to find him.
'Sometimes things you search long and hard for are the easiest to find, they lie just under your nose. Nothing as it seems. Never lose hope and believe your heart, believe what it tells you'
Yoochun frowned, what did that mean?
Before anyone could say anything, the clock chimed midnight somewhere in the background. Junsu looked startled at this, he needed to go, he was supposed to be awake at four in the morning this morning, he needed to sleep or he wouldn't be able to work that day.
'I need to go'
'Must you go right now? Stay a little longer' yoochun all but whined
Junsu shook his head, kissed yoochun one last time and rushed away.
_______________
Three weeks later yoochun was climbing the walls, he was looking everywhere, searching everywhere, but he was unable to find junsu.
He was somewhere near him, in or around the castle for sure or else he wouldn't be able to sneak into the castle and into the ball uninvited. He had sent soldiers and even went himself looking everywhere but he still had nothing, nada, zero answers.
Yoochun was depressed lately, so depressed that he didn't even eat much lately; the king and the queen were both getting worried for their son's health. They had tried everything to make him eat anything, but all in vain.
It was lunch time already, he was sitting in his chair feeling light headed and tired, not touching his food.
'Eat something son, anything, please' the queen whispered, pleasing with him, like she did on every meal
'Not hungry' he mumbled and rose from his chair ' I'm going out'
As he stood suddenly, yoochun felt light headed and before he could realize what was going on he felt darkness take over him. Not the usual kind of darkness that meant a fairytale had been fulfilled, but the kind of darkness when the entire world vanishes from around you and you faint.
_______________
Opening his eyes, yoochun looked around, he was tired and sore, his head was throbbing and his throat was dry.
'You're awake!' someone yelped beside him
Yoochun felt the bed shift as a new weight was added to it, he looked to see the king, the queen and a doctor or something all around his bed, the queen was sitting beside him, tears trailing down her face.
'Please, you must eat something, you're too weak, please son, please…' she begged and begged with him
'Fine…' yoochun tried, clearing his throat a little, it was too sore it burned when he spoke ' I will eat some soup'
The king frown, soup was nowhere near enough, but at least it was something
The queen nodded her head and called a servant at once, ordering some soup for her son
Yoochun looked at her, a frown on his face, was this what it was like to have a mother who cared about you? A mother who took care of you when you fell ill and when you were down? It sure was nice…
_______________
Junsu pulled the donkey skin tighter around his body as he walked into the kitchens through the back door. He looked around to see the old chef who always helped and took care of him working on several meals at the same time; he looked too busy and tired
'Can I help you, uncle?' junsu whispered to him, no one else had heard him speak but this old man, to the rest he was a mute.
'Oh, my boy, your timing is perfect' the old man beamed at him ' I'm working on the soldiers' meals and some soup for the prince, he fell ill today' Junsu's eyes widened at this ' it's almost ready, but it needs to cook a little more. Watch over it for me while I finish the other meals, will you?'
'Of course, uncle' junsu whispered. Yoochun had fallen ill, he was sick. His heart began racing with worry, was yoochun alright? Was it his fault? Was there anything he could do?
Washing his hands clean junsu stood in front of the stove and kept an eye on the soup, he was stirring it absentmindedly that he didn't notice when something metal and tiny slipped off his wet finger and into the soup itself…
_______________
Yoochun looked at the small bowl of soup on his lap, it looked well, and it smelled good, but he didn't feel like eating. This fairytale was wearing him thin; he was too tired both physically and emotionally from it.
Still, he reached for the spoon and dipped it into the soup, before bringing it to his lips; he sipped the soup and swallowed, one time after another, one soup after the other, until he bit on something hard, neither a potato nor a carrot, it was something else that almost broke his tooth.
Chocking on whatever it was yoochun coughed it into his palm and looked. A tiny, golden ring with one onyx jewel in its middle lay innocently in his hand.
'Are you alright? What was that? Is someone trying to get you killed?' the queen demanded angrily as she looked at the ring
'This…' yoochun whispered, not taking his eyes off the ring ' who… who cooked this soup? I want the chef, now'
'Yoochun honey, are you alright? Your father shall take care of the chef, you just rest and…'
'No!' yoochun almost yelled ' I want to deal with it myself!'
'Alright' the king frowned and asked for the chef to be brought at once.
It didn't take long for the old chef to be brought in, dragged by two soldiers
'Who cooked my soup?' yoochun asked at once, sitting up straight in bed even though his head hurt
'I… I did…your highness' the old man bowed
'Lair!' yoochun hissed ' someone else touched the soup or this wouldn't be in it!' yoochun showed the ring o the man and went on ' who was he? The young man who touched the soup, where is he now?' yoochun almost begged
'Yoochun…' the queen began but yoochun cut her off ' tell me where is he!'
'I…I don't know… he was a stranger, I never saw him before, thought he was a servant…I never saw him again…'
'You allowed a stranger to touch the prince's soup?!' the king roared
'I tasted the soup myself, it wasn't poisoned, my king' the man whispered
Yoochun sighed, he looked at his father and remembered junsu's words, he had to solve this fairytale like and so he will:' I will only marry the young man that in his finger this ring fits' yoochun declared ' it doesn't matter their age or statues in society, I will take them as my bride'
'So shall it be' the king agreed, not knowing what was going on in his sons mind but having a faint idea whose ring this was.
_______________
A week passed, every man in the kingdom came to try on the ring, princes, nobles, poor, servant and everyone failed to fit the tiny ring into their fingers.
Yoochun, the king and the queen were getting desperate; no one else was left to try on the ring, yet the owner wasn't found yet, they could see their son staring at the ring all day long with longing clear in his eyes, they wanted to help him, they really did, but they didn’t know how.
'That was the last person, my prince' the soldier bowed as the last man walked out of the hall, having failed to wear the ring.
'Get me the chef again' yoochun whispered, his eyes closed in desperation
The soldier bowed and left to come back ten minutes later with the old chef trailing behind him. the old man bowed and looked at yoochun, waiting for the torture to come.
'Please' yoochun began, his tone desperate ' I need to find him, he's all my life, I know you know where he is, I know you're protecting him, I just… I love him… I need him, I must find him, please, I swear I won't harm him, but please let me see him, help me find him…' yoochun begged ' I will even get on my knees and beg, tell me where is he'
The old man looked at the prince and sighed; he hesitated for a while and then spoke…
_______________
Junsu was about to go back to the kitchen and have some dinner, it was past sunset already and he had just finished his work for the day, he was tired and his body hurt, but he was happy today, he found a chance to bath just a couple of hours ago in a nearby stream, he was wearing his most beloved outfit, the white and silvery one, for his regular clothes were too wet to be worn and the donkey skin, as ugly as it was, was very helpful in shielding him from the cold wind.
Humming gently junsu ignored the snorting and the comments as he walked to the castle, he was half way there when he saw two soldiers coming his way; he stopped and bowed to them like a little, good servant boy.
'The king is asking for you, donkey boy' the soldier sneered ' hopefully we will get rid of you, finally'
Junsu swallowed and followed, he was afraid and worried as for why the king asked for him, not yoochun but the king.
Walking into the castle and into the throne hall where the royal family was gathered with some guards and generals, junsu surpassed a shiver and bowed, remaining by the door
'Yoochun, this ugly thing can't be…' the king began but yoochun cut him off ' nothing as it seems' he spoke out loud ' you told me this yourself' he went on eyeing the man by the door
The king blinked in confusion but kept silent as yoochun stood up and walked to the young man, he reached to grab one of the hands that were holding the donkey skin tight around the body and forced it forward, he smirked at the sensation filling him, this was his lover for sure, he knew it.
Holding out the ring, yoochun slipped it into the tiny, delicate finger and watched with everyone else as if fit perfectly, as if it was made for this man. Yoochun smirked in victory and brought the palm to his lips kissing it
Everyone watched perplexed as the man under the donkey skin withdrew his hand and with both hands free now he grabbed the skin and slipped it off his body. Several gasps were heard as a beautiful young man with a very familiar face dressed in an amazing outfit stood in front of them, this was the young man their prince was searching for, the ran away bride, a royal prince, the donkey skin!
'I waited too long for you' the young man mumbled, pouting cutely
'I'm sorry love, I needed some time to figure out your not so subtle hints' yoochun grinned cheekily and kissed junsu full on the lips. The kiss was soon turned into a one hell of a make out session in front of everyone. Sadly, not long into said session a familiar darkness and a tug pulled them apart, again missing a strange figure looming in the background as they were pulled apart, into another fairytale
