Summary: Yoochun spent two quiet weeks eyeing his lover
Yoochun spent two quiet weeks eyeing his lover; junsu had made enormous effort, he could read almost all the words now, he knew how to write them with the right grammars too and he was opening up slowly to the others
The first few nights yoochun had to make sure he's fully awake all night to be there for his lover as junsu kept waking up having nightmares and wanting to go home to his master, his mother. Now, however, he still cried every now and then when he really missed her but he was getting better
Yunho and yoochun had buried the woman in the forest, where she lived all her life. It took yoochun a great effort to convince yunho to come with him into the forest and it took even a greater effort to make jaejoong give yunho permission to go
It had began snowing a week ago and it didn't stop yet, they couldn't get out of the inn so it was really getting on their nerves, especially junsu's who wasn't used to being locked in one place unable to go anywhere before. Yoochun however found a way to keep him busy by giving him books to read while he went through the files of the case yet again comparing it to the scroll he found in yunho's ranch
Things were too quiet lately, way too quiet if you ask yoochun, something wasn't right and he didn't like it.
Sitting in his regular armchair in front of the fire reading the old files again yoochun sighed, he had already memorized each word on those papers, yet something still felt wrong, something didn't fit in his mind
In his mind yoochun had made an image of Lee shi, the one junsu spoke off, he must be mid age at least, he must be strong if he was able to climb up and stay balanced on a bamboo tree. His shoulder must be hurt, that yoochun concluded from before, from the wounds he saw… his injure must have became worse forcing him to change his style in killing, and that's why he started using this new weapon and not the usual way he used till now
He had lost someone close at war; he visited him regularly and offered his soul food to mend for something he felt bad about for sure, something he believed he was responsible for, he always offered buns which meant he's not that rich, rich people would offer better things than buns to the dead. He was poor.
He must have served in the army; yoochun concluded as well, that's why he was able to use a weapon skillfully. That's why he was in good health and that's why he was dangerous. He was a well trained soldier; he knew how to hide his marks
Yoochun was trying hard to find anyone in the village that would fit the disruption, but so far he wasn't so lucky
'No luck still?' yunho walked to him handing him a mug of steamy tea
Yoochun frowned taking the mug from yunho carelessly and sipping from it, the second he did so he jumped up a little, he spit the tea out of his mouth and knocked the amount left in the mug on the paper he was holding, which turned out to be the scroll from yunho's ranch
'HOT!!' yoochun panted and yunho surfaced a laugh
'Damn it!' yoochun hissed and looked down, his eyes widened as he saw the scroll on his lap, the words on it were soaked with tea and the entire thing looked so fragile that least wrong move would rip it
Yoochun raised the scroll carefully and placed it in front of the fire hoping to dry it off, his eyes widened at once as he looked at the scroll
There, in the soaked area, as the fire light reflected on it a new words appeared, dim and hidden in the paper where he didn't see them before, he looked at them and hissed to yunho at once:' get me some water in a big bowl, now!'
Yunho frowned yet obeyed and returned a minute later holding a big bowl which jaejoong normally used to wash the laundry half filled with water and placed it in front of yoochun's feet
Yoochun held the scroll and soaked it all in the water
'What are you…?' yunho was shocked
'Watch!'
Yoochun took the soaked scroll out carefully and spread it in front of the fire standing as a screen, he used the two armchairs to keep it in place and laid down on the grown to be level with it watching
Yunho rolled his eyes and did the same, he understood at once
There they saw the words they didn't see before appearing right where the normal black inked words ended, it wasn't the same handwriting and it all seemed rushed
Yoochun read:
I write those as he chases me, he's in here and I know my end is near, I hope whoever reads them would be able to do the right thing with it, he's using the passageway to get into the ranch, no one knows where it is, but it must be in the first floor, I know it is… he had been using it for a while now, the village hadn't been the same, kidnapping little babies and killing parents, all information about this had been sealed, hidden away so no one would find it. But, I know, I know where it had been hidden… there in the mill, where no one goes anymore… search there for the information…
He's coming up the stairs already, I can hear him inching near me… my husband shall not know about my death as I believe, he shall be told it's an accident or that I ran away with some mysterious lover like she had… to my baby son, know I love you more than anything…
Yoochun looked at yunho and they both just eyed the words, yunho's eyes were burning up with blazing tears threatening to fall down
Yoochun didn't have to ask whose handwriting was that, he knew it from the content of the massage
'It's… my mother's handwriting… I remember it clearly… but…but…' yunho fought against himself to find the words to phrase his question. Yoochun, however, understood him at once; he was thinking the same thing
'My mother died as she fell from a cliff in a field…' yunho began ' that's what I've been told'
'And so was your father as it seems, but looks like she was killed in the ranch… reach what she wrote… kidnappings, there's no mention for any kidnapping in the case files I got… she said the stuff where hidden in the mill, we must go look there, weapons needed for sure, but we must wait for the snow to melt first'
'What is this passageway she mentioned?' yunho asked, a little bit calmer now
'I know there are three passageways built under this village, one was blocked by an earthquake, the other two no one knows anything about them, but that's how the killer was able to move around undetected, he's using them' yoochun explained
'And one is at the ranch?' yunho frowned
'I always suspected that there should be one at the ranch, and this only confirms my doubts' yoochun sighs
'But… how… how did my mother know so much about the murders?' yunho frowned
'The right question to ask is who is her? She said that he would tell your father she ran away with a mysterious lover while she's dead, just like her, who is this her?'
Yunho frowned, he didn't like this. This killer was already dead, yet it seems now that he had been wrong, the two killers might have knew each other somehow, because yunho's uncle was only interested in killing his brother, sister in law and nephew. The other killer must be the one behind the kidnappings and the murder of her, if she knew about this before her death, before her brother in law killed her, then this must mean the other murder was after her too, they worked together to get to her… they had something in common so they worked together, as a team
That idea sent chills down his spine, not the good kind of chills, he didn't like this, he didn't like this development at all, but again, what's hidden in the mill might just be the thing he needs to crack up this entire case, right?
For now, waiting for the snow to melt, he just had to go to his lover and hug him, rest his tired head on his shoulder and nuzzle in his neck, allowing his sweet smell to fill him up, allowing it to sooth him and make him relax
Things were a lot better now, now that he had his lover with him all the time…
