Mini rant of concrit, review

Um… I’m kind of baffled right now. I don’t know if I should feel annoyed or… understanding? I don’t know. I guess it’s fine… I just, uhh. I’ll try to explain ( Read more... )

I understand what you mean. My comment wasn't just an edit one though, I had talked a bit about the story itself--what I liked, and who I liked. But I'm thinking the reason is just that they were embarrassed perhaps, like you said. They were pretty nice in the author note, which is why I'm not as annoyed as I would have been.

I didn't think about that. I'm used to posting for fun as well as improvement, so if someone points out a mistake I'm usually quick to fix, lol (especially if it's a silly mistake). I guess I kind of just assume others are like me. I do know they did say in their author note that some helpful tips on format or anything would be appreciated. It's been a few days, but perhaps they haven't had a chance to fix it yet, anyhow. If they don't, hopefully they'll take what I said into consideration for improvement in future work.

Thanks for explaining a bit. I'm much less annoyed now :) and less confused.

Ooh, I know what you mean. I usually don't give concrit because I had a bad experience where I was attacked for it in an author note :/ although it annoyed me, I felt like the bigger person for not saying anything to their comments. I just ignored them and moved on. I do think if someone says anything about being okay about constructive crit, they should be open to receiving it, however much it may not be what they want to hear. (& I HATE when fans bash with the author)

Have you heard of the comm writers_guild? I get so frustrated when I read entries on there. Almost everyone who's asking for critique gets offended when the users give it. I don't know if they're just not looking at the other entries before post or what, but it's like they don't know it's a comm for harsh criticism. No user is attacking the writer, but giving honest critique on the work--which almost every writer posting there will not agree on. But I'm getting off topic, lol.

I wait until I'm done with the storyI didn't think about that. I actually do that with some of the ( ... )

yes, seriously! I don't think anyone really reads the earlier posts, or even the profile of the comm before posting. They just go ahead and think the critique is going to be positive with gentle concrit, but that's not what that comm is about at all. It's for honest, thorough critique that's not sugar-coated. I use it as a means to figure out what I shouldn't have in my own writing ^^;
