Homophobe rant

Words like these -- What gets on my nerves is when gays think they're going to heaven. It specifically says in the bible that they're not. -- clearly show what an ignorant, judgmental person this girl is.

She posted this on a SLASH forum. I'm wondering why she was even doing on a SLASH (read little girl: gay, gay, gay) forum in the first place. I' ( Read more... )

I like it how people use the bible as a basis to solidify their arguments, when they don't stop and ask "hang on, who wrote the bible? Mighty God or some ambitious dude who was trying his hand at writing a play?"

Seriously! And the fact that it was written how long ago, should be an indicator to not believe/follow EVERYTHING that's written in it.

Yeah. She was ridiculous. She got properly banned, so hopefully she won't show back up to spout off crap like that. There was no reason for her to voice something like that in a slash forum; she shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Yeah, I agree. I was more angry when I first read the comment, but now it's just mild annoyance at her ignorance and blindness XP

Wow, I had no idea about that stuff (besides the judging thing). And for people to not follow/take that stuff seriously, but feel strongly about the other stuff mentioned (like homosexuality) is irritating.

She was banned so the problem was solved. In the end we don't know if she was just trolling or had no idea what forum she was on DX

Another point not mentioned is that it says somewhere in the Old Testament about not mixing your blood with that of another, that it was unclean. I know about it because my roommate in college was a Jehovah's Witness, and they use that passage as their reason for refusing blood transfusions...but they are the only religious group I know that does such a thing. I'm sure this woman wouldn't refuse a blood transfusion if her life was in danger...and according to her view, that means she would go to hell. Ridiculous, IMO ( ... )

I won't get into a theology debate here, as I don't think that's the point, but I'd just like to contribute that I come from pretty much the same background as you (Except that I'm straight) and I came to the same conclusion. First, the Bible says anything and everything, and everybody just conveniently keeps what does it for them and ignores the rest (I've tried to live by "Don't judge lest you be judged" and "Love one another as I have loved you"; the "slavery's right", "sodomites will burn in hell" and "If a cow falls in a pit that belongs to you, you basically owe its owner, like, a cow"... not so much.)I think people should not try to use the Book as a guideline for this reason. If you believe in an almighty, loving, perfect god, and if you think worshiping him means striving to do the right thing during your stay on earth, then you should ask yourself what's moral, what's the right thing, what's harmful to others and what's not, just as Calldyr said. Basically, you need to try to think. If you need to look it up in a list or a ( ... )

*rolls eyes at mentioned idiot person who probably is winding people up for attention*

Why wouldn't gays go to Heaven? God made them with a certain sexual orientation, why would he set them up to fail?
That's not the way the religion is suppose to work. *sighs*

There are Christians who couldn't care less if you're gay or not, anymore than if you were of a different ethnic background. *shrugs* Important part is that God loves all of us.

I reserve my impatience for those that are intolerant. Ignorance implies that with intelligent discussion the person can change their attitude on a subject. Whether they are intelligent is a whole other topic.

Yes, yes, seriously! Even if God thought homosexuality an abomination back then, whose to say he couldn't change his mind after all this time? I mean, we've changed quite a lot since that Bible was written, I'm sure (if he's real) his views has, too. And in any way, like you said, he created us, why would he set us up for fail? Why not accept everyone for who they are.

I agree with this. Too bad everyone couldn't care, though X/ or at least, more people. Maybe one day.
