Poland pictures

hi i'm going to try and start using this thing again and not fail like last time

SO as a few of you know, I spent the last couple months in Europe with my mom. Here are some pictures and very very lazy summaries of stuff I did and saw, starting with Poland~

To start off, there's a funny story with the flights here. It was supposed to be a one-stop connecting flight that went to Munich and then Warsaw, right? WELL, there was some holdup on that. First of all, because I am an organized genius who always takes care of important things, I forgot my passport and boarding pass on the Boston->Munich flight.
WHOOPSIE. It took like an hour to get it back and once that was done, there ended up being a fuckin waiting list for the Munich->Warsaw flight.

GUESS WHO DIDN'T MAKE IT?

Yyyeah.

And there were no other flights going to Warsaw so what we had to do? Take a flight to Zurich and THEN get a flight to Warsaw from there. FFFFFUUUUUU. Lots of confusion and running around like idiots ensued. And keep in mind the whole time me and my mom were lugging around a hand luggage because that was the only way Brokachu was going to make it there; we had two giant things of luggage packed and there was no way he could fit. Carrying Brokachu for an extended length of time is not a task for the faint of heart, but we managed it.
Eventually we reached Warsaw, finding our luggage that ended up at the lost-and-found due to flight barfs, plopped down in my great-aunt and uncle's apartment and went to sleep. Perhaps all that delay was a good thing as it was like 10 PM there when we arrived and my body adjusted to the time zone right away. No jet lag or anything. :)

There aren't a whole lot of pictures taken at Warsaw; shutterbugging didn't really start until we got my brother's old SLR camera working. There'll be plenty more later but for now you have to make do with my boring words for the Warsaw experience. :B

Craptastic picture but this is how I had to charge my DS. Of course, before leaving we bought a 220V converter for our PIG DISGUSTING 120V AMERICAN APPLIANCES but as we discovered when we got to the country, that wasn't enough! See how the plug socket is round and kinda concavey? The converter was flat and there was nnooo way it was gonna fit. Luckily that problem was quickly solved as my great-uncle gave us a... thingamabob YES I DONT HAVE A BETTER WORD FOR IT and we just had to plug it first, then the converter and THEN the appliance. This system was slightly more stable than it looks, I didn't have too many problems with it falling apart and stuff, and it did its job well. Can't complain.

We were here mostly to get some shit sorted out; a while back I lost my passport (which is a horrible thing oh god dont ever do it) and in America I got a temporary one, but for a permanant one I had to go to the country itself. Getting a passport is a long and boring process that makes you wish you were tranq'd but we got it done and over with so it's all good.
But it wasn't entirely uneventful; we went to the Stare Miasto quite a bit, met up with several friends and family members... I just don't recall everything that well. :B

um um One place we visited was the Łazienki park which is this really huge park in the city center. There's a bunch of royal history about it and there's lots of garden space and water and these noisy twerps walking around:

Seriously if you've never heard a peacock cry you're lucky it's an ugly noise.

.... FUCK I CANT REMEMBER ANYTHING ELSE NOTEWORTHY. Unless you guys want to hear about grocery shopping and restaurant fare. :V I ate a fuckton of flaki from random restaurants and also meat pierogies and OH the milk is so much better than in America and ok none of you wanna hear about this so ill shut up

No worries as we're getting to the meat of the visit.

At the start of June, we hopped on a train and went to visit my mom's friend in Rogów. It's a very moe little village about two hours from Warsaw. Lots of very nice stuff to see, cute houses and great views.

Mom's friend works at a small museum/arboretum. The place has some cool taxidermy and stuff, I should've gotten more shots.

These next few are from some restaurant we visited that was literally in the middle of nowhere. We three got the whole place to ourselves, it was pretty sweet B>

They had a goat outside. It was on this platform about 6-7-ish feet off the ground and it wasn't even completely fenced around. I guess they trust them to be smart enough not to step over and plummet down.

the goat was all SUP

and then i fed it

Some pond around the area outside that was off-limits.

I don't even remember where this is I think it's just a balcony view from the apartment BUT THE SKY IS PRETTY.

These are from the arboretum.

PRETTY AS HELL POND.

FROGGY.

OPIUM POPPY.

BIGASS TREES.

Aaand that about does it for Rogów. Next stop: Kazimierz.

Kazimierz is small part of Kraków and is another moe place despite being a bit of a tourist trap. There's a castle and some churches and crap I forget everything I learned about it there. Look it up if you're curious, I'm not your damn history textbook.

Due to the tourism, there's lots of places that offer rooms to stay but around this time, everything in the town is usually booked solid. At first, me and my mom stayed in a place that was like.... 3/4th a mile away? And it was uphill holy crap it was a pain in the ass to walk to and from every day. Oh and the path holds one big and long graveyard.

Pretty much this x 70. I coulda sworn I took some shots of graves I liked the designs of but I don't seem to have any. Poop.

We walked across a bridge that had this grove and for some reason my mom was obsessed with it. Whenever we reached it she always stopped to admire it for at least 5 minutes every time. *shrugs*

The lady who gave us a room has a wolf hybrid. Imagine the surprise when the thing greeted us at the door with only a puny wooden fence that was barely shorter than its standing height between us.

Random house idk

Me shielding my face from a photo op with a bottle of applemint juice WHY AM I SHOWING YOU THIS i dont know i figure I should have pictures of me as PROOF or something.

RANDOM PRETTY VIEW

CHICKEN BREAD FUCK YEAH

CASTLE

VIEW FROM CASTLE

BOAT. We actually did end up going on a short boat ride around the surrounded river. Some views from it:

And that's it for Kazimierz. A few days after that we left for Italy but we'll save that for the next entry. :V BE BACK TOMORROW WITH MORE PICTURES AND HALFASSED SUMMARIES OK.
