Shows that I like

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is a TV show that I like.

One of my favorite movies has always been Terminator 2: Judgment Day. So I have been cautiously optimistic about the new Fox series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. What really got me excited was when I read that it was intended as an alternate timeline to the events of T3 ( ( Read more... )

I was less than amused by the pilot on Sunday, and didn't watch Monday's episode. While Summer Glau is cute and talented, I was like "oh look here's another terminator out to kill John Connor" "oh look, here's another terminator sent back to save him." Didn't we do this before?

And I agree, the whole thing is just "Trash can...remember a trash can" but with more special effects and hot robots. It's just not different...enough.

That said, keep me posted, sometimes a show gets better after a pilot.

Yeah, that's really the biggest problem. The more new terminators that are sent back, the more it begs the question: "Why not send MORE terminators, and send them earlier in history?" Repeat ad nauseum until millions of machines and human soldiers are duking it out in the garden of eden. Also, Skynet was delayed but doesnt it seem kind of inevitable? Yet they are still trying to find and destroy its source.

I recognize the cheesy acting, plot, and sci-fi loopholes, but I'm just a huge huge fan of T2 (it sat in my #1 all-time movies list for a long time), and this show is very loyal to it so far.

I'll keep you posted but I have serious doubts about the show finishing its first season or even half-season. They only have a handful of episodes taped pre-strike.

I actually kinda liked Terminator 3. I thought it tied a lot of things together in some interesting ways. One of those things was that the creation of Skynet IS inevitable, you can't prevent it only prepare for it.

There are getting to be a lot of terminators running around. I think the original explanation was that it took more power to send someone back further, so the closest options were used.

Sterno is reading an interesting series of Terminator comics. I think the jist of it is that Skynet succeeds in terminating John and it causes a paradox that starts destroying the world. So it sends another terminator back in time to take out the other terminators. So there's a souped up model killing off Arnold, and the Liquid Terminator, and even the Terminatrix from the 3rd one.

Anyway, I'm glad it received a thumbs up!

Well in the comic they don't terminate John, but nevertheless all of Skynet's meddling in the past is unraveling the future. So they send back the T-Infinity to kill off all the terminators that got sent back. The story is pretty cool though. It starts off right after T-3 where John leaves the bunker and starts to get the resistence going. It's a pretty cool new look.
