Any gardeners on the f-list?

May 18, 2010 14:18

I am looking to plant something in my tiny garden patch that a) blooms yellow and b) I cannot possibly kill. Be advised that I am a serial plant killer, and also that the soil in my garden is pretty much clay. The plant would get partial sunlight and not too much water. Any suggestions?

Sadly, I too, am a serial plant killer... hell, I can't even have a houseplant! So I have no suggestions to offer... just **Hugs**!

I'm just as bad... I've killed both aloe vera and bamboo, and was on my way to killing a jade before I saved it by giving it away. The only thing that flourishes in my garden is a catmint bush, which does not flourish so much as take over the world. I'm afraid it's going to strangle me in my sleep and use me for fertilizer.

I'm only just discovering the world of plants, so I'm hardly a good source of information. Until recently I had the Black Thumb of Death(tm). So please understand it is not a slight against you when I say the first thing that popped into my head when you said yellow flower that is hard to kill is dandelions.

We have buttercups (I think???) growing wild around here, and they do just fine with people tromping all over them. But I don't know if they'd grow well in your climate.

Perhaps this site will help? http://www.plantcare.com/encyclopedia/

And I happened to come across this: http://www.plantcare.com/encyclopedia/amorphophallus-1231.aspx and HAD to share. Well, it's yellow...

^_^ Just what I wanted.

:( The first site won't work for me... keep getting server errors.

I might just wind up planting lavender. I do want something yellow, but on the other hand, I love the smell of lavender and it fits the "hard to kill" category.
