I'm curious. If you think it's a trap, what happens when it's sprung? Embarrassment? Torture? Death? I was under the impression that these were all Luceti mainstays.

I don't really care whether I'm here or in Elibe, so I don't know if I'll take it yet. But I'd just love to hear everyone's scintillating thoughts.

[Adell's voice is carrying an uncharacteristically dark tone.]

My guess is if you go through that gate, you end up right in their labs, ready to be tested on like an animal. It's almost like leading animals to a slaughterhouse. Who knows what they'll do to someone there.

You think? But so many people are so desperate to get home. Think they can handle all those people at the same time?

Probably. They wouldn't have been so public about such a chance if they weren't prepared...

Oh, no. I'm just asking if they have enough staff to conduct horrible experiments on everyone at the same time while still being able to savor the moment.

Embarrassment, duh.

Then why's everyone talking about it like it's a matter of life or death? Just walk through, if you get home, good for you, if you don't, boo hoo.

Because everyone's really paranoid and/or has been here less time than some of us.

You really don't care about being here?

Not really. There's nothing more for me back there than there is here. The Malnosso leave me alone, and while my power is cut in half, it just makes visualizing the full effect that much better.

They might change their minds in the future, you know.

Then they'll learn their lesson. Or, in the unlikely event that they overpower me, I get tortured for a week or two, come back with a couple wounds, don't remember anything, and get back to my life in a week tops. Big deal.

I'm not sure what's going to happen but it doesn't sit right with me.

Something bad. Gee, thanks. I'll make a note of it.

We end up like "Tyr", as the letter says.

Wasn't that if we stay here?

1week_wizard November 23 2009, 20:29:15 UTC
It is arguable, with presented information, that "Tyr", in fact, did not "stay" at all.

So in your opinion, we're screwed no matter what.
