I've started work on the pockets. Found an old unused piece of a 1x6 in the basement, and some pieces of 3/4" thick wood, each about 2" wide. Each leg needs a 2.5" square space in the pocket, so I'm cutting the 1x6 into four pieces that are each 4" square. Then I have to decide if butt joints or miters would be more stable for the pockets. Miters would be "prettier", but if they fall apart, that's not so pretty.

One benefit to having the table top-down on the floor again: when I was using it as a desk, I discovered that there were a couple of other places where I needed to secure loose boards with mending plates, so it's another opportunity to take care of that.
