For those who voted for Donald Trump, all I can do is shake my head. You let yourself be ruled by emotion to the point of voting as a result of the fear he has raised in your hearts rather than rational care for the future of anyone, much less our nation. It is hard to believe that so many people appear to have disregarded the sheer viciousness of his language and the manner in which he sought to blacken the names of anyone who opposed him or stood up to him or questioned his motivations or called him on his lies and distortions. Trump has a lot to answer for.

And we must live with this for at least the next four years. He says he can rewrite the affordable healthcare act, whose inequities he blames on President Obama. He forgets that this was the act that the Republicans presented to Bill Clinton in response to Hillary Clinton's proposal as a national affordable healthcare act, and that the inequities within it are those crafted by his own party members. Obama merely took it as the Republicans wrote it and challenged them to oppose it, which they couldn't really do without appearing hypocritical. But they did their best to distance themselves from it by calling it "Obama-care."

As are so many I've spoken with. My state is predominantly Democratic, so our state cannot be seen as being part of his election. But those I've spoken with who voted for Trump believe all the claims that Hillary Clinton ordered the deaths of Vincent Foster and the young man in New York who was murdered in a robbery a few weeks ago, and that somehow she was personally responsible for the deaths in Benghazi, and that the use of a personal server rather than the government server that has been hacked by so many countries and personal hackers somehow endangered the nation. It's bizarre!

You're not alone in this. I've been following the US elections as much as my time allowed over the last weeks and was in shock when I got up today and saw the result. Clinton may not have been the ideal choice, but Trump is in my eyes many times worse, and it leaves me worried for the US and for the rest of the world. While I understand that people are fed up with the established politicians (it's not any different around here), this belief that such a man would actually make anything better leaves he shaking my head in disbelief. Humankind really doesn't learn from their mistakes :(

There appears to be a spirit of fear infecting much of the world that sees those who are different as putting one's own well-being at risk, and Donald Trump fed right into that by insisting that we have to build walls to keep THEM out. Not a good situation. But it helped drive Britain out of the EU and got us a liar and a hypocrite ready to enter the White House.
