This is making me tear up and I can't really figure out why. I think it might be the whole second part. Dean trying to figure out how much older he is by discounting his time in hell, or adding it depending on how he looks at it is so heartbreaking somehow. The last sentence says it all though. He'll always be the big brother and by how much doesn't matter at all. Terrific story, thanks for sharing!

Aw, thank you! I calculated the dates all a while ago out on a whim and felt like I really ought to do something with the info. Cause even when you get older and 4 years is less of a gap, that period when you were kids and 4 years did mean you knew so much more...it sticks with you. Anyways, I know it's just a short little drabble but I'm really glad to know you liked it!

This is just lovely. And thinking about the change (or not change) in Dean's mind that happens from 4.01 - 5.22 makes it all the sadder.

The hint of somberness to this piece was very well done. Other than that, it's very hard to put into words how this story makes me feel. Their real ages, their "supernatural" ages, well, Dean's right. They are who they are no matter the numbers.

I really enjoyed this. I'm terribly sorry that my comment may appear to be rambly and incoherent.
