G. Bush Sr.

Yeah, it was cool to hear him speak, regardless of what you say, Conor. He's an American President, so piss off. The debate was funny. No personal attacks. I think I may have not made some things clear, so I probably look like a moron, but here goes ( Read more... )

i'm totally with you on this.
i'm not the best debater, but i do know that we, as a nation, can't always sit back and do nothing, especially when other countries' problems start affecting us.
whatever the president does, it will always meet with some disagreement. he can't please everyone. and what really gets me is how many people complain about the way the government is run, yet they do not vote. if you don't vote, you have no right to complain.
and one other thing, the economy is not instantly affected when a new president takes office. often times, any changes seen in the beginning of a term are usually the result of the previous president.
these are just some of my thoughts
kinda random
thats why i'm not good at debates ;)
p.s. when's your spring break? do you get to go home?

our spring break is from 13 Mar to 21 Mar. We have training in TN, so I won't be going home for it. Have fun in the Bahamas, though!

you so kick ass <3

My favorite part of this conversation was when your friend listed the countries who are/have tortured their people. He might want to brush up on his history, i mean does he think we've never attempted to take out those leaders, for example during the Kennedy administration they tried to take out Castro and failed.

i know, there's no way to feasibly attempt to take all of those on at once. it's a matter of what the most grevous problems at hand are with relation to our own security. this dude was threatening his own people and others with his weapons that he may or may not have had. whatever. i trust our leaders. without a certain degree of trust we would all be lost. i dunno, that's what i think anyway.

yeah, i'm adding a comment to my own entry, and about what "the paper" has to say about stuff--realize that most of the time, the paper reports shitty news. Sr. was talking about what the paper fails to mention--all of the happy people over there. sure there are going to be people who believe that we shouldn't be over there, even in their own country among their own people, but unlike our country and culture, instead of peaceful protest, they shoot at us, but there are a number of people who embrace us with open arms and are willing to learn and grow from what we have to teach them. that whole area has been in turmoil, obviously, for a very long time. half the country is stuck in a state of the middle ages and the other half more industrialized. many clashes.

If Conor wants to vote for John Kerry, whatever. I think he would make a very weak leader. He changes his side and the democrats only like him, not for his views, but because quote "I think he will beat Bush." I know that bush is not the best pres, but he isn't bad. He is strong leader. Although, many people don't agree with his beliefs, he still has firm beliefs that are not all bad. Which is more than can be said of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton. I also think that Iraq will be a better place regardless. Half of the country was stuck in the middle ages. You don't cut people's hands and feet off and throw them off of buildings.
