I saw they'd taken it down.

I don't think the article you linked is their point/counterpoint article. It was written back in February and cited before on Boing Boing. Same asshole though.

Oops. The full point/counterpoint article is on Forbes magazine now. I linked the original article. My bad. Here's the point/counterpoint version.

Asshole or not, I can understand the environment he's surrounded by/attempting to document. While working in Newport Beach, I was surrounded by precisely the women he's suggesting as the ideal type for marriage: pretty, vain, fashion-conscious, emotionally adolescent, and working at a job that doesn't pay much or offer much growth for the ambitious.

And sure enough, their boyfriends/husbands were rich real-estate brokers or power player agents!

Guys like this aren't particularly emotionally developed themselves (I've yet to meet one that's acts more mature than a frat boy/beach bum, regardless of age). They tend to have their ego tied up in their job. The older they are, the worse it gets.

Say what you will about the power brokers in any given company... pixelfish August 25 2006, 02:02:12 UTC
Each iteration seems momentarily better than the previous until you can see reality and realize that perhaps incompetent, benign SOBs are preferable to competent, dangerous Kings...
