Best of Series 2 (Part 2)

Dec 17, 2006 01:37

Continuing what I started on 27 November (whoah, that was almost 3 weeks ago!), I finally got took the time to go through the next 4 episodes of series 2 and choose my memorable scenes. Gotta hurry with that now. Only 1 week left till the Christmas Special. And what's the point of a retrospective leading up to a new episode if said episode has already aired and the next hiatus has begun?

2.05 Rise of the Cybermen

Oh, come on, this scene cracks me up every time! It's such a ridiculous situation and Rose is so serious about the whole thing. Last time I watched it I burst into laugther about two seconds before the Doctor. I'm weak. The little 'sorry' afterwards also adds to it.

(I know, I probably should have taken the "holding down the button"-scene because it has better character interaction, plot development and setup... but a scene that cracks me up multiple times on repeated viewing is so rare with me.)

2.06 The Age of Steel

No, it's not Mickey continuing Rickey's quest, gaining a lot of character depth on the way. It's not the goodbye in the end either. Instead I chose the moment Rose and Alt!Pete realize Alt!Jackie has met the horrifying fate of being irreversibly turned into a Cyberman. Remembering Alt!Pete, but standing emotionless before him and ordering him to the conversion unit? So tragic.

2.07 The Idiot's Lantern

Honestly, it's impossible for me to pick any other than THIS scene! Really, it's what got me started on the "Summer of 69" vid. It's lighthearted, sweet, features a vehicle driving out of the TARDIS yet again and combined with the music sells me instantely on them being... somewhere in the recent past.

2.08 The Impossible Planet

Ok, I skipped through this to see if I could find some wonderful scene in this one that I generally overlook... nope, I have go to with the big one, the easy choice. It was only a slim chance. After all it's one of the most perfect scenes. Amazing setting/lighting (the black hole looming over them), lots of drama mixed with some fun, thousands (ok, I'm exaggerating) of different emotions and the subtle score, that forms this a quiet but meaningful scene. The situation of losing the TARDIS makes this feel unique and much more serious than it would be with the easy escape route.

Started testing Sony Vegas today. I'm still getting accustomed but this has potential. Judging from my first impression there's more possibilities, more control and more room to grow than in Adobe Premiere. Of course I'm still missing a few things but so far I've already discovered the equivalents of tools I couldn't find in the beginning. Nevertheless, my plea for more time still applies. I reconstructed my 3 sec vid, that's it for the moment. :(

Aaah, but most of the wallpapers in my new flat are in place! And the ceiling's finished! Including the halogen lamps, that it's covered in. And it turned out absolutely fantastic! :D
