I just got myself a new DVD player. My old one had got so bad at playing discs that it just had to go. The player I bought was the Panasonic DVDS97.
£220, multiregion, from a retailer I found on the internet who hand wrote the invoice!
The player has almost every possible feature you could ever need on a DVD player, from VCD to WMA playback. It even has a built in scaler and HDMI output (the reason for buying this particular model). So I wondered how it compared with the £11,000 DVD player we have a work. So I toddled into the demo room clutching my new toy to give it a go.
OK I admit it. The £11,000 player was better than the £220 player. But not by much. Definitely not 50 times better. I think I got me a bargain.
So I took the player home, plugged it into my system and watched Star Trek V (The Final Frontier).
It was crap, but that's the odd-even rule for you.
