There would be more, but I've read a couple of WiPs, which I don't usually rec while they're unfinished, and I'm part way through a couple of multi-part fics, too. I swear, for every art review note, I'm about to start just putting 'Pretty!' Vids will be 'Pretty in Motion!' *headdesk*
.: Sherlock :.
The Shadow Boys are Breaking |
morgan_stuart [Gen, PG-13, 4.221 words]
Summary: When Sherlock and John broke that morning, Lestrade picked up the pieces. Now who would pick up the pieces of Lestrade?
Review Note: The first bit is Lestrade's pov not long after The Great Game when he goes - exhausted - to 221b to try and figure out what the hell happened that led to Sherlock and John being where they were in the first place. By then he's already helped dig them out of the rubble and sat watch in the hospital and is, in general, running on fumes. Fortunately for him, he runs into Mrs. Hudson. A brilliant character piece for the two of them.
Art
...Constantly. |
mariemjs [Gen, PG]
Summary: The men in Sherlock's life, that could be the tag line, watching, worrying...
Review Note: Very atmospheric with an excellent light/dark contrast. Beautiful work.
.: X-Men :.
Puzzle Pieces |
lilacsigil [Gen, PG, 15.378 words]
Summary: Magneto's team realizes that Darwin might still be alive and attempts to find him. When they are caught in an ambush and half the team is captured, Mystique has to lead the rescue effort. Darwin calls in the kind of help that Mystique doesn't want, but does need.
Review Note: A very unique Darwin survives angle, for one thing. For another... I think I liked the team dynamic, in all its prickly, imperfect glory. Raven is really struggling to grow up here and, mostly, it's working, but she has to find her footing as well as deal with decisions she's already made and figure out what she thinks is the best way forward. An all-around excellent fic.
May Morning |
rosie_rues [Charles/Erik, NC-17, 2.627 words]
Summary: Erik came to Oxford looking for an expert on human mutation. He ends up shagging a drunk telepath. Slight AU, in which they meet for the first time in Oxford.
Review Note: There's something about the surrounding revelry that serves as a wonderful backdrop. Side note: I love how fandom has been writing Raven, even as a supporting character, and this fic is no exception. <3
Tea with the Vicar |
ximeria [Charles/Erik, NC-17, 2.627 words]
Summary: For all that Erik finds Charles confusing, he can't deny his fascination either.
Review Note: A lovely PWP set during the recruiting road trip. :)
Bifurcation |
alchemyalice [Charles/Erik, PG-13, 9.500 words]
Summary: The first thing Erik notices about Charles, after he’s gotten over the shock of there being someone, anyone who is in any way like Erik himself, is that metal hums around him.
Review Note: Fusion-ish with Wanted (Wesley is Charles' alternate personality). Does wonderful things with Wesley, actually, and Raven's pov is particularly interesting. Nice logic for why Raven would go with Erik.
Art
Grayscale Charles/Erik |
stereowire [Charles/Erik, PG-13]
Review Note: A very interesting choice wherein Erik has wrapped the metal of the bed frame around his own wrists. It leaves him with his back in a lovely arch.
Vids
Evolution Leaps Forward |
di_br [Gen, PG]
Summary: Peace waiting for the DVD was never an option. ;P
Review Note: Another fantastic surprisingly-only-from-the-promos vidlet by di_br. ♥
Rolling in the Deep |
arefadedaway [Charles/Erik, PG-13]
Summary: "And I will always be there, old friend." Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr, from beginning to end.
Review Note: I think this would have been a more effective vid for me with a single pov, rather than both Charles and Erik, but that's my only quibble (as a wildly unsophisticated viewer) - I needed more than one watching to tease out some of the narrative threads. I'm going with the end (Erik's pov) as my favorite, in part because I know the end of that particular movie and how it hints at nothing being *final*.
.: Highlander :.
Lemmings |
friendshipper [Gen, PG, 3.200 words]
Summary: One avalanche. Three Immortals, freezing to death. And they're really annoyed about it.
Review Note: The three of them - Duncan, Methos, and Amanda - make for such excellent comedy! Of course, it's comedy about hypothermia (and cell phones), but it's Highlander, so it's all good. :P
.: Hawaii Five-O :.
Papa Don't Preach |
leupagus &
waldorph [Steve/Danny, R, 16.754 words]
Summary: Madonna is informing her Papa that he shouldn't preach, because she's keeping her baby. Danny raises his spoon. "Preach it, sister."
Review Note: Utter crack and completely hilarious.
.: Star Trek / Thor :.
I'll Get Inside You |
averzierlia [George/Winona, Thor/Loki, PG-13, 281 words]
Summary: A conversation between Winona and Thor.
Review Note: Now, see, I could so get behind this as a longer fic, exploring just how much trouble Jim could possibly get into with that kind of heritage. (I'm guessing it would be a hell of a lot.)
.: Porn Battle XII Entries :.
Star Trek: Reboot, James T. Kirk/Spock, slap, fist, hold, surprise
The Captain's Sensibilities |
ximeria [Kirk/Spock, NC-17, 1.393 words]

Much Ado About Nothing, Beatrice/Benedick/Don Pedro, wet, dancing, revel
