No LJ-Cut. From today's Washington Post. If ever there were an extension of the "Southern Strategy," this would be it.

You know, though, aside from the inaccurate message the fliers promoted, the strategy itself actually doesn't seem all that bad of one, unless I'm missing something ($100, transport, and 3 meals to people who need them to hand out fliers and such sounds like a pretty good deal to me). Obviously the misleading literature is a big problem.

There is something here, also, about freedom of speech meaning freedom of factually accurate speech, and it is more than somewhat troubling that this even needs to be brought up.

Good news is that they didn't get away with it, as both Ehrlich and Steele lost.

I've read reports that "3 meals" was a joke. And something's fishy if you need to bus in homeless people from other states.

I feel like my problem is that this is just using & manipulating homeless people, but it could be because I can't get past the deception of this particular instance. I'm all for getting people jobs & a paycheck, but I wish it was something that lasted more than 1 day.
